Ebay has them sometimes. I got an extra one for my tundra on there.

You may trying a local locksmith for the key. There's one I know of in San Diego that will do them for $25. I paid the extra $20 for a factory one. As far as the remote, I've seen them on E-bay as well.

Getting a blank is not the important part, not many places can cut the LX450 key and those that can are going to charge a lot more than the $1 the hardware store does for a house key.

The Lexus dealer cut keys are cut properly to the vin not a copy of your current worn key, that is where I would go if I needed a new key.

Call other dealers?

For the fob defiantly look at Ebay.

I just remembered something else. The dealer can't cut the key, At least mine couldn't. They did it off the vin and it came from Michigan or something like that. The plastic part of the key was smaller than the original as well and I guess that's the only way they come now. On the upside I got a deal on the key and remote $100.05 for both

One of the Lexus dealerships around Phoenix, AZ sold me a new cut key for $36. Other Lexus dealers in the area wanted $75-120.

Call around your local Lexus dealers if you have some near you for prices.

It makes a difference if you get the 'Lexus' Key or the "generic" key. I locked my key in the truck, after meaning to get a spare for a year and a half. Went to Lexus Of Tulsa next morning, all they had was the generic key that doesn't have the L on it. $49.95. Well, that's what they told me it would be on the phone the night before. They gave it to me no-charge and said "merry christmas". I was feeling pretty lucky after that.

LX key

Lexus of Maplewood, MN cut me a key for $25 including tax - no L symbol on it. Still don't have a fob yet though.

Check with CDan on the transmitter, pretty sure it's close to or cheaper than the used Ebay price.

just for clarification...

cdan can hook you up with the transmitter, if you want a new one.

I don't think cdan can help with the Lexus key.

I got a used transmitter similar with to original from Lexus for $41. I'll probably go with cruiserparts.net for the key since i'm getting some parts there saves me the shipping cost. Thank you all for your input

I got a used transmitter off eBay for what appeared to be a good price, compared to what they were often selling for. I paid more than cDan would've charged me for a new one. A fool and his money.

I had the Toy dealer make a new key from the VIN, didn't want a copy of the worn key. He insisted on making a copy, I let him try, and it didn't work. Once he had the machine set up, additional copies were pretty cheap.

As others have wisely suggested, and if you don't care about the badging, call CruiserDan. He can provide the Toyota part at a fantastic price, but not the Lexus badged part. The same thing, just circle "T" rather than circle "L".

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy from Autotechs.com or OnlyRemotes.com (same company) out of Kissimmee, FL. They totally burned me. They advertise the Lexus remote, part no. 08191-60820 for $60, but sent me their crappy, cheap-a$$ aftermarket remote. They said I could return it if I didn't like it, but they refused to refund the $9.95 S&H they charged me!

CROOKS!

Related Question

Hi to all- I'm not trying to steal /change this thread but have a related question. I, too, need some more keys and have never had a second key fob type remote for the spouse.

What I would REALLY like to have is a 1998 or newer type Lexus/Toyota key with the integrated transmitter.

Has anyone ever figured out a way to make this newer style integrated key work with the 1997 and older 80 series.

FWIW, I am also thinking of replacing the factory alarm with a newer system, which made me start thinking of changing it all out.

And NO, I'm not yet ready to sell my 80 and get a 100 series if that's what you are about to say!

Glad to see the previous post about the company in Florida- I was about to order something from them and have now changed my mind- THANKS!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the integrated key fob style will only work with the 100's due to a chip in the truck that talks to the embedded chip in the key. If you were to just make a plain key, it wouldn't work...no talky. The 80's don't have the chip, so again...no talky!

...I think

Besides, you don't want that anyway. If you ever lose your keys, you've got to replace the whole security system brain which is like $1200 . I seem to remember a recent post where this happened.

Sux!
