| Lock tite on front control arm bolts? Just swapped the bushings in my front control arms for OME Caster Correction Bushings. However, the shop I took my control arms to threw away the directions.
I remember reading about applying Lock Tite to the bolts upon reinstallation. Can anyone confirm this and what type of Lock Tite?
The FSM says nothing about Lock Tite or anything similar . . . good idea, bad idea?
Thanks!

| I've never used locktite on them. The base of the nuts have an edge to them to stop them from backing out. That is why you should turn the bolt and not the nut when loosening them.

| New factory bolts have a thin coating of some type that is reddish.
According to the factory manual tha fasteners should not be re-used.

| I think the instructions suggest that you replace the bolts.
I cleaned up the threads, used blue loc-tite, and staked the nuts after torquing them up to 180lbs.

| The factory torque is 130 ft·lbf on the frame end and 127 ft·lbf at the axle. Mine have been out at least a half a dozen times, never used loc-tite and never had one loosen.

Maybe 130 is correct because you are using new fasteners each time (as toyota recomends).
Are the torque specs different in the FM for the rear arms?

| I use Loc-Tite on every suspension bolt after having the nut disappear from my front trackbar... twice. I may have left it loose the first time, but definitely not the second. The way I see it, blue Loc-Tite can't hurt anything. Red, on the other hand...
