FYI, footcandles is a measurement that measures the intensity of light that falls on a surface, which is why the measurement in the rearview mirror isn't what you'd expect. For more info, see this article:
http://www.energybooks.com/pdf/D1150.pdf My meter is identical to the meter shown on pg. 1 for footcandles. __________________ "That was the best trip EVER!" - most commonly heard phrase from the back seat since getting the 80 -White 95 FZJ80 | Specs: CDL, OME 2.5'' Med lift, Bridgestone Revos 265/75R16 -Green '94 | Locked and stock...Sold! -Discovering the West one trail at a time. |

I must of gotten lucky.... I just picked mine up at the local Deere dealership for $9.99. They did say that they have been getting lots of calls for these bulbs and that the price has risen to $23.00. To think I almost told them that I didn't want them as this will be an extra pair. I'm glad I spent the $20.00 bucks now.

Been trying my local JD dealers - no luck and none showing up on back order either. Any other bulbs worth swapping in?

I just installed a pair of the low beams and I like them, I can tell the difference without any scientific measures, especially nice on those dark rainy nights that we get here in WA (west side)

I couldn't really notice much of a difference but I have a before pic and haven't taken an after pic yet. But will try and do so and post this weekend.

I noticed a difference right away, the beams are more focused and I could see at least 1/4 farther than the OEM's.

Anybody near Minneapolis?
On a BMW board some one stated there were something like 88 JD bulbs available in Minneapolis going for $9.99 each! Anybody near a JD dealer in Minneapolis?
If so, how about scoring me a pair at $9.99 each, I'll pay for shipping! Thanks, Brewster |

New member
I hope I'm doing this right. My name is Park Richard and about a year ago I purchased a 1991 FJ80 with 150,000 miles on it. It is in very good shape, completely stock, and due to my financial status will most likely have to remain that way.
However, I like to go shooting in farmers fields and almost got it stuck and really muddy the first time I took it out. My buddy laughed his butt off as he watched my huge eyes as I squirted around in a coulee until I came to the end and was able to get it out. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. 8 quarts was new to me. It burns a quart every 1,000 miles. I'm not too worried about it since it seems to have ok power and does not blow smoke. My wife likes it and it is our daily driver. |

We welcome newbies but I will point out that you have replied to a relatively old thread and your post was "off-topic" for this thread. Generally, new members will post a New Thread with a subject like "Introduction of a new member with a 1991 FJ80" or "Hello from a new member from Tucumcari, New Mexico". Then you can describe your ride, how you plan to use it, and post a picture if possible. We like pictures; not of you though... pictures of your truck or the places where you take it. <==== New member greeting.![]() -B- __________________ 97 FZJ80 - Wing Nut MAF, locked, 315 Toyos, 4.88s, Slee 4", George's sliders, Slee bumpers, M12000, OBA, Outback drawers + other stuff. Don't you have some old rusty nuts that need PB Blasted? ![]() That reminds me. I suggested to Nagerjaeger that he should post pics of his truck. I can remember when we first struggled with teaching you how to work a digicam and how to post pictures. Those were some trying times Kurt, and as I recall, you posted about 2 dozen pictures of a freakin' turtle in your back yard. Please do a search and find those old pictures. We need a laugh every so often. ![]() -B- __________________ 97 FZJ80 - Wing Nut MAF, locked, 315 Toyos, 4.88s, Slee 4", George's sliders, Slee bumpers, M12000, OBA, Outback drawers + other stuff. I finally broke down and bought them here: $26.95 + $5 USPS Priority Mail shipping (up to 8 bulbs) w/ no tax (unless in WA) I figured by the time I drove to pick these up at my "local" JD, figured in my time, gas, and taxes, the cost would be about the same to just buy them online and shop in my PJs ![]() And, if you have some friends that want them you could do a group buy to save a little on shipping __________________ '97 LX450 aka "The Whale" with a winch called Damien '97 FZJ80 40th AE, Antique Sage, #267 '74 FJ40, 2F, SM420, 4" Lift, ARB locked front and rear, 33" MTRs '76 FJ40, 2F, 4-speed, 4" Lift, 33" BFG ATs (SOLD)

For those running HIRs in your hi/lo beams. What kind of auxiliary light beam pattern do you recommend (fog, driving, pencil, euro, etc)?
