Got my bulbs from local JD for 9.99. Put them in last night. They seem a little brighter but I will have to wait for some bad weather to really check them out.

I got mine yesterday ($10.49) from JD and put them in last night. Now, i live in on a remote road where there are no street lights and i can tell you these lights are Amazing. Length and width vision of HIR bulbs is, by comparison, day and night over stock. Thank you to all at this site

Well, that was just stupid easy!

Took about 60 seconds to trim both tabs with a dremel tool, accessing the bulbs does not require the use of any tools, so........if you can unplug harness ends, twist the bulb a few degrees...then you can have good low beams for very little effort.

Thats a lot of bang for the buck. I will be buying spare bulbs soon, pre-trim them and keep them in the cruiser.

I like EASY!!!!!!!!

I placed an order just before Christmas, and apparently you guys have run John Deere out of stock

They are back ordered, with no expected arrival date.

Just picked my lamps up tonight. I ordered 5 on 12-23-06, 60.95 out the door. The stockperson did note that the lamps came from all over the country and were in short supply. My lamps were all made in japan with some really old labels.

Hands down best mod for the money!

I replaced the low beams in both my new 2006 sienna and the LX. The lx was running the silverstars and they were good. These are clearly better. The biggest improvment/gain was in the sienna. The stock low beam lamps in the sienna are 51W silvania's, they sucked. The JD are incredible in the lowbeam position.

Thanks!

I used the 12 I ordered 2 weeks ago (3 vehicles + Christmas gifts.) I just ordered another 6 and some other misc. tractor parts. :-)

I -love- their online catalog/cutaways.

Ordered mine today. Local source could not get them as they are out. They hooked me up with a few other regional JD places that showed they had them in stock. Ordered up a pair.

slightly off topic but i just had this convo with a friend of mine about how one of his headlamps blew in his 1990 ford ranger and how his bulbs (regurdless of the brand or "super white" or "zenon" or whatever) seem to pretty fast.... and how mine never seem to guy on any of my trucks cept my fj60 and thats only cause i have some crappy aftermarket bezel that likes to fill up with water when submerged in a creek or the like, whereas the stock sealed beams didnt. long story short i think each vehicle is a lil dif than one another even if same brand year ect. cars are like people they all have theyre own problems.

just my $0.02

Carefull... They may be doing market price pressure testing to see what the market will bear. If we buy them at 50% over the standard retail a few times, then the higher price will become the market.

Then again, these seem to be franchise operations charging whatever they want. Your dealer could just be pushing the price a bit.

I've got two dealers locally. One said $16.95 the other said $10.99. I said to the higher priced guy "Hmmm, you're $6 a bulb higher than either John Deer online or the other dealership thats across town. I'd prefer to buy off you because you're a little closer... but not $6 a bulb closer." He said "well there you go". I asked him if he needed me to pick him up a few while I was down there, because at his prices we must be sourcing from the same guy... he said, Nope, I'm covered. "We'll see ya then."

These are John Deere part number AH211917. They replace the low beam lights, and are also known as 9012 bulbs. What I got when I picked them up, was Toshiba bulbs which made in China (PRC). The printing on them says: Toshiba HIR2 12V 55W, and DOT 9012. They do require you to trim one tab, which you can do with wire cutters, or some other implement on a handy leatherman. I replaced my dead stock bulb today, and the HIR is definitely brighter, though I have yet to see them at night. I will try to get pics of that later.

**Stock/old** bulb below:
What is the John Deere part number for the High Beam (9011)?

Just got my bulbs from UPS today, $11 each shipped to my door made in Japan.

These things are briiiight! I had 51w Sylvania bulbs in before and there is no comparison. I left the USDS bulb in and the USPS bulb is now a HIR and I'm going to do a side-by-side example on my white fence. It's really impressive.

Slee Harness & HIR installs Lx450

Wanted brighter lights, tried Silverstars and others. Silverstars were whiter but did not throw longer or wider, just whiter. Finally installed Slee's upgrade harness and a set of low and high HIR's. Fantastic! Just what I had hoped for. Now the fkup. Cost me $300. to find this out. I grounded the wires on the slee harness and left the grounds on the original harness tucked away. My truck stalled to the point I thought it was a fuel pump or MAS. Would crank but not fire, towed it, got to destination and it cranked and fired, ran smooth as silk. No codes turned up, could not replicate. Took it to my Indie mechanic, same thing, then to Toyota, same thing, then to Lexus. Tech checked the wiring diagram and found the grounds were tied somehow to the fuel regulator or something like that. One $100. tow, one $85. troubleshoot and one $115. trip to Lexus to hook up two ground wires later it is fixed. Obviously I'm not the most well versed at this stuff but at least I'm trying. Learn by my mistakes all you noobies!

Actually, the high beam part number for John Deere is AH159333, but it isn't a bulb. The flood light is AH159332 (low beam). They take the same bulbs. I have one of each sitting under my desk. They are 6.5" wide and 4.25" tall and 4.5" deep with a HIR bulb mounted in them. They both take the same bulb.

I'm the slowest wrench in the west, so it will probably take me a long time to get this project done. The two lenses I have are so I can see the light patterns and fabricate my mounts. I plan to use some 18ga galvanized for it.

Someone mentioned an overvoltage kit to supply 16 or 18 volts to a 9005 plug system? Yeah, it would overheat stock housings, etc... I'm not using it on a stock housing. Does anyone have a link to one of these? I'm thinking about pushing the HIR bulbs a bit and see if I can melt these polycarbonate lenses.

FZJ80 = tinker toy.

Here's two shots.... first is down the alley with HIR lowbeams on:

Second is a manually set exposure to the exact settings of the first (IE: the lowbeams are the "fixed" point, anything dimmer will appear dimmer, anything brighter will appear brigher) except this time with the highbeams off to show relative brightness:

If the lowbeams were not close to the highbeam's intensity, the second picture would appear washed out and very bright. However, it is more full of light and a bit brighter, but for an ISO400 shot it shows pretty darn well that the lowbeams are relatively close to the highbeams intensity.

Forgot to take one when I only had one HIR lowbeam in... durr!

Its not just the amount of light, its where you throw it. Low beams are contained down low, so they don't blind other drivers. High beams illuminate in a much broader pattern. Notice the white garage that you can't see in the 1st shot.

FYI, if you Google the part number, you find reference to these bulbs on several automotive forums, including BMW and Chev sites. We're not the only ones making a run on these. Who let the cat out of the bag???

Ordered mine from JD dealer here in Ontario, Canada for $12.50 each. The parts guy said, is this for your Chevy Truck? Told him it was for a Toyota and he was surprised. Said guys been buying from him for a while ust for the Chevy. I got the last pair he had in stock. Mumbled something about they may have to jack the price up since they're so popular.
