FJ80 v. FZJ80 Lower Rear Control Arms

I was crawling around under my FJ80 recently in relation to a different thread, and noticed that the lower rear control arms are noticeably larger in their O.D. than the ones on my FZJ80. I know a few of you hard-core wheeling types have tweaked or seriously bent these arms on rock ledges and other obstacles, but I was wondering if anyone had ever bent the larger FJ80 arms. Please post up if you have done it or seen it done.

I was just thinking that it might be cheaper to buy salvaged FJ80 arms instead of purchasing new aftermarket beefy arms, provided that they are in fact appreciably stronger.

IIRC, the older arms are larger in diameter, but the metal is thinner than the newer control arms (or maybe older=hollow vs. newer=solid?). I think the older arms are on 91-94, newer from 95-97.

I have the larger arms on my '94, and the thinner ones on my '95. I beat the piss out of the '94, and the arms are curved now. I'm planning to replace the tube with a thicker walled version.

One of mine is curved now. I have other things to mod and I don't want to spend $ here yet. I will stick it out for a little longer and see how things go.
