Compression Test Help

I want to perform a compression test on my engine, i bought what it hink is the necessary equipment from walmart. How do i go about doing this, i tried searching the forums but didn't really find anything, i found some general stuff on the internet but nothing particular.


also after i get the numbers, what do the numbers mean, maybe i'll just post them up and see what you guys say.

The procedure is outlined in the factory service manual.

Mark sure the battery has a good charge. Disconnect the coil and pull the spark plugs. Pull the EFI relay (or other method to disable fuel injection). Install the tool into the first cylinder spark plug hole. Have an assistant crank the engine a few turns until the pressure is max. Record the value. Do all 6 cylinders.

Put a teaspoon of oil into each cylinder. Repeat test.

Do i need to run the engine a little bit (10 minutes?) before taking out the spark plugs and doing the compression test.

As for interoperating results it is difficult, there are many external variables that go into it

Best advice is to look at the variation cylinder to cylinder instead of the actual numbers,
