Where did it go, I someone had to have saved it.....it was like the best identification/rebuilding resource on the web for gear driven cases....
I started a thread over there but apparently no one cares or didn't know it existed....cause all I'm getting is gawkers.

Please tell me someone saved the webpage......:crybaby:

Personally I think it got pulled because it had too much information in it.

I searched for a while instead of paying attention in class one day... Wanted to know more about the difference between my 82 and 84 cases... Never found anything... Ended up doing the 4.7 kit in my 84 case anyway.

Well, it seems to be gone... So lets gather what we know here.

Rear case cover bolts:

5 bolts means it's a chain driven case which all V6's had, manual and auto. As did the 4 cylinders with an auto transmission and the G58 5 speed trans (early 90's trucks/4Runners that came with the ADD front end)

7 means it's a gear driven transfer case, which was behind all 4 cylinders except the note above.

Gear Driven Transfer Case Info:

Early gear driven cases had square cut gears and were noisier, I do not know when they changed to angle cut gears.

22R engines came with G52/G54 transmissions that had the forward shifting case behind them. 21 spline input.

22RE engines came with W56 transmissions that had the top shifting case behind them 85-88, and a forward shifting case 89-95. 21 spline input.

The 22RET turbo engine came with R151 transmission which had a top or forward shifting case behind it depending on the seating arrangement bench (forward) Vs. buckets (top). 23 spline input.

Please add what you know and we'll have our own in no time.

I was really wanting the step by step rebuild instructions and pics that used to be in that that thread.....

This came from that other major forum site, which all came from the Marlin transfer case bible originally.

Toyota Motor Sales America..those that are slowly removing content and online tech info so the only access is within the techinfo site by enforcing the "copywright" and "exclusivity" clauses in their released information, all in a bid to make the company more profitable. Basically they're paying out for lawyers to find the disallowed content and send out cease and decist orders...

Also why there is absolutely zero access to tech on the Prius unless you're a dealership or it is only a minor repair issue.

Seems counter profitable to me though and likely why I won't ever get a job with Toyota or a dealership within their control ever again.

Never voice your opinion kiddies, it'll haunt you for a while..

IOW, closing down NUMMI wasn't enough..
