My front bumper build

I started building a front bumper for my friends mini truck. Its not done yet, its going to get a hoop and the ends by the wheel openings will be tied into the frame for max strength. I'll post more pictures up in the next couple days as I make more progress.

Bumper is looking pretty good. What winch plate did you use to build off of? I copied the TG winch plate to build my bumper off of but gave myself a little more room from the grill. The winch is a very tight fit. Post some more pic when you get a chance. Thanks.

Yup it is, if all goes well I'll probably make my own plate in CAD and have a local waterjet shop cut and bend it.

Thanks for all the good words!

Hijack: Question, my son are thinking of building front/rear custom bumpers. (He is just about to get his license)... Friend of mine tells me I am setting myself up for a lawsuit if my son gets into a wreck and hurts someone with some beefy homemade bumpers. Any truth in that? we are in Texas...

Tia,
ML

Well, my first instinct says that doesn't make any logical sense, but hey.... stupider things have happened in a courtroom:

Makers Of Louisville Slugger Ordered To Pay $850K - Cincinnati breaking news, weather radar, traffic from 9News | Channel 9 WCPO.com

I think it depends on how crazy you get with the design. A simple but effective, strong design like an ARB is no problem. But if you've got some stupidly huge hoop sticking way out... you're kinda asking for it.

I dont want anything crazy, I do have about 40' of 5" round pipe I wanted to use, I want to keep it simple.

Finished it up for the most part today, still a couple braces I want to build just so its extremely strong, but this is definantly a large step up from the stock tin foil.

^^notice the lurking cruiser...

An example of what may be a little over done.

Haha thought I would revive this since I just got banned from Pirate for having basically the same thread, having it deleted with no contact, posting the thread again, having it deleted again and then a Mod created a thread for the purpose of calling me out instead of PMing me. I like MUD a whole lot better.

Things that will be improved:
adding gussets in the tube work and from the tube to the winch mount
modeling the winch mount in CAD and making it out of thicker material and a bit taller so there isnt a big gap around the bumper.
also trying to figure out the best place and way to mount D ring shackles.

I saw this on pirate, guessed I missed it here. I like it... You want the TG Winch mount modeled in CAD? I can do that no problem. Give me some Dimensions and I can build the whole bumper in 3D CAD.

Thanks a lot for the offer, but the friend I built the bumper for is actually going to do it for me.

*O/T..sort-of..

LC60, check for my reply below yours over in phish60's Chit-Chat post. I am sorry if you took things wrong and all. I'll post differently so you see the inside humor better next time. I was trying to save you a bunch of drama and stupid stress, my post in phish60's thread reflects the rest.
