well my turn, you didn't search, you had the information handed to you and you didn't even read the thread.
you could not have.
I wrote step by step how to do it and just went and copied part of it here for you.

Wow, I didn't know that I was sticky famous.. lol..

this is from that thread.

all 2 inch pvc pipe I added this part.

well on the 85's the hole in the air box is on the motor side. there is a plastic tube that comes out and up beside the head light.

that hole is where the oil filter gasket go's.
I can take some pictures on tuesday.

male electric screw in conector inside the box. the pvc ones won't screw in far enough.
90 to a 3 or 4 inch pvc pipe
90 and pvc across the front of the box through the inner fender
90 up to where you see it come out of the outer fender. (that spot takes 2 90's one male and one female.
45 up the wind shield.
45 at the end into a 2 inch to 3 inch adaptor and a plastic sewer cap to top it off.

the electric thread screw into the pvc alot further then the pvc threaded fittings. it is the gray fitting inside the box.

location of old oil filter gasket.

dissconnect for removing the air box, added later after I had to get at alt and steering box.

You need to make sure that you have room to latch your air box clips.

comming out of the inner fender and up the outer fender.

hose clamp screwed to a piller and then clamped on to the tube.
I used on on the fender and two going up the a piller.

top 45 fitting and expansion adaptor and plasic sewer pipe cover.
got this stuff at manards.

for the top of the snorkel i just used a 4 inch pvc pipe cap and used 4 screws and run the screws through the cap into the 2 inch pipe for the top.

Great info, thanks too, sometimes pouring threw the wealth of information out there gets so tediouse, newbies just need a little nudge. I was wondering about the pvc, and how to run it all so it didnt look like a monster truck, great pictures!

thanks.

but,, always that huh.

take a marker.
go around the top of your pipe, the bottom of your pipe cover.
now pull the screws out and scallop in between the screw holes a bit. not to where the scallops show.
not to where the screws won't hold or the cap not sit on there right.
about 3/8 inch deep.
if you set the cap right down on the little shoulders on the inside you are limiting your air flow.
I bet if you rev it up to around 3 grand you will hear the air sucking through there.

I opened mine up and did notice a difference.

EDIT.
just re read that you didn't use the adaptor on the end, just the 2 inch pipe.

how about some pictures of your work.
