Power to tailgate, why isn't it there?

I have a 86 toyota 4runner, not sr5 unfortunately. I have had the rear lock replaced and fitted to my key and i still can't get the rear window to roll down with the key and along with that my license plate lights don't work. they have new bulbs and the sockets are clean. why am i not getting power to the rear? i have checked fuses and am wondering where next to look.

There are a couple plugs inside the tail gate that could be loose.... I feel your pain, check the FAQ thread for more info on troubleshooting the rear window.

I had a broken contact at the back of the switch in the gate one time, that's fun to fix!!! Best of luck!
