logic would tell me they are the same BUT when I tried to pull up 1985 on Advance site(a great tool in certain cases) you could not get a 1985 carb but for 1984 and 1988 you could get the carb and they both had the same part #

The only difference you might see is the plugin ends. There where a two or three different ones, my 84 is circular, but i remeber looking at an 87 2wd carb and it being slightly different. As for the power, you might see a little increase, but these motors arent screaming eagles.
