Old and new style cap, wires, coil?

So I ordered a new Toyota cap (and rotor), wires for my 92 truck with a 22RE. When I got the wires and cap I was surprised by the new (to me) lock-style of the wires that actually lock in place. Only problem is it won't work with my round style coil.

Anyone familiar with what stuff they're giving me? I got a new Toyota round style coil too, but it won't work with the lock-style wires either. So either I get them to order me different non-lock-style wires and cap, or I get a new regulator to work with the box style coil!

What is my truck supposed to have in it? Could the original owner have switched stuff around?

Thanks

Okay, looking at toyodiy.com it appears they gave me parts for a truck made in the 9th month of 92 and on, whereas my truck was made in the 7th month. Darn, those new parts are cool, but cost more.

This is always a possibility.

Best to have your VIN number handy when ordering parts; the toyota parts computer, if properly operated, will clear the parts with the VIN number.

the newer 22RE had those wipmy wires and clips. most all of the ones i see are on 2wd trucks. only a few on 4x4's guys must swap em out.

you dont need a OEM cap and rotor. sure lots of parts are best from the dealer but not these.
you are better off takin it back, goin to napa and orderin a Echlin cap and rotor and NGK 9799 wires and NGK 1233 plugs. those wires will fit your standard coil
