After searching on here and other places I haven't found a lot of exhaust pics..Post pics your exhaust setups, especially those with 2.25" exhausts, I'm wondering which way to dump it out the rear..

Installed in 2005, custom-made, 100% stainless. I think I paid $400 for the whole thing, including the new cat and bling-bling muffler. He told me it has a lifetime warranty, if it ever rusts through just bring it back and he'll replace it.

LC Engineering stainless, front to back: I've since replaced the factory crossmember with a Budbuilt one with skidplate but no photos with that set-up. That exhaust is 3 years old but it doesn't have too many miles on it yet.

Nice pics KLF, I'm thinking about having them 90 the end of the exhaust behind the rear wheel so the exit tube is flush with body panel...I'll post up pics next Monday when it's all done.

Sounds real good man, I like the flowmaster mufflers. I have an old cherry bomb muffler that I'll keep on there for now..I'm going to have them weld up the pipe from the new (old) header to the cat and from the cat all the way out to the back..if you have the pics already on the computer please post em up! The more the merrier

Here are the pics after the LC Header install and 2.25" exhaust, I'm very happy with the results, can definitely feel a few extra horsies from the pavement rippin' 22re now

The work looks good but just a couple of comments/questions. Why did they turn the cat instead of leaving it flat for more clearance? Also, doesn't the O2 sensor need to be before the cat?

WDE, if you look carefully, there's another O2 sensor in front of the cat. At some point they went to 2 sensors, I think on the CA-spec trucks. And it looks to me like the cat was gonna hit the t-bar adjuster bracket on the frame if they tried to leave it flat.

I would have put that tailpipe end at a little less of an angle, and further away from the bed. It's gonna rot the bottom of your bed off.

KLF, you are correct, it is a California pickup, hence the o2 sensor in front and behind the cat.. The cat had to be turned sideways to clear the t-bar adjustment bracket. The cat was actually almost completely vertical when it was stock, not sure if that was factory or if the cat was installed that way by the previous owner. I also didn't feel like rewiring the o2 sensors to move the cat down further. The cat sits above the tranny brace so I'm not too worried about it for now..

Thanks for catching that about the exhaust outlet, I had them angle it that way for looks but now you got me thinking about having them change the angle if it really is going to rot the bed, appreciate the input.

They measured the distance between the bump stop and the frame and matched that to the distance between the axle and the exhaust pipe, is that enough clearance?

Thanks for the clarification...you learn something every day. I knew that I had two O2 sensors on my LC but I thought they were directly in-line with each other in front of the cats. Guess I'll have to take a peek under there now.

What do you guys think about the clearance from these pics? What changes need to be done for better clearance?

You need a BudBuilt crossmember! Seriously, it will give you about 3" more clearance. Mine has a 1" lift built in, which helps even more.

No, it actually doesn't change the clearance ABOVE the crossmember, just below it. Check out his website, and look at mine (the dirty red thing).

I'm heading out to night class right now but sure, no problem. As for clearance you'll see why I went with the dynomax supercat. Aside from matching the 2.25" tube flow, it is a little more compact and let me rotate it to level rather than the whole 60-odd-degrees the factory did for clearance and heat dissipation. My main hurdle is that with a 31" stuffed in back, it would almost touch the tailpipe, and caused some light scorching. I am using a ratchet strap to pull the wheel over to the right and then at the same time am tightening it down on the lift winch. Looks a little off from the back but for now until I figure out how I want to set up my rear box storage it'll work.

*I am looking at a box I can fit the spare under and at the same time, since we're expecting w/i the next 3 months, integrate the baby-seat latch buckle for the center-up-over-the-top 5th strap for our baby carrier, to have it like the '96 and newer vehicles. I talked to a pal at CHP and he liked the idea and said it should work out better than some of the "ghetto-certified adapters they've passed off as safe".

Well, I'm not gonna be a good price check. That is one of his prototypes, I think I got that thing in 2002 or so. It was hand-made, prior to him having them laser-cut. I helped him bend it on his press.

BudBuilt - Single Case Crossmembers

Holy crap... I just realized he's still using those old pictures I took on his website. The one on the left is my freshly painted crossmember, lying on an old sheet in my yard, and the one on the right is right after installing it on my old '84 pickup. Too funny...

I bought one last year from Bud and had him powedercoat it. I can't remember what I paid but it's all pretty clear on his website. It's a very nice piece of work.

*Pics in a minute..Digital, you're gonna wish you hadn't asked, here's 11 shots just for you to enjoy. (*Well, and for future searches.) All of this stuff is C.A.R.B. certified/tagged or Laser Etched/Engraved and runs cleaner than it did originally, of course the better power doesn't hurt it at all.

2009 Thorley 505 Ceramics, 2009 Dynomax SuperCat into a FLowmaster Single in-out, I forget which model though. 2.25" stainless used throughout, oxygen sensors placed at factory distances and muffler back (tailpipe) sectioned for custom bends not possible in a single piece. *I cleaned the bracket off of the EGR so I could gain some access back to the #5 plug and just make it all look a lot better.

That is the cleanest engine bay I've ever seen with a 22R in it, the headers are bling blingin too! Very nice, is it a rebuild or new motor?

Thanks. I wasn't expecting the chrome when I bought it... oh well. Engine was "rebuilt" by the PO. Was waiting on the tranny and t-case from Marlin and decided to pull the engine, r&r the chain, dump the egr stuff and clean it up. Local muffler shop did the rest and a durn good job IMO. (cheap too)
