Diesel '95 4Runner

Hey all! Been lurking on here for awhile fantasizing about an '87 FJ60 and, through a fortunate turn of events, have been given a close to perfect condition '95 4runner for FREE. It has around 70k on it with a 5 spd manual and the factory v6. With the money I had been saving for a 60 I've been considering doing a diesel swap in hopes of getting my MPG up into the mid twenties. It seems that the 2lt-e engine is the most popular diesel swap on here but it only is rated at 95 bhp . . . if this is the case i find it hard to believe it could move a 4runner down the highway at all. I'm not looking to win any races but I also don't want to have to floor it for 20 seconds to get up to 65. What diesel engine would you use? Am I crazy for even considering doing this? Why mess with something working just fine? Anyone want to give me a free diesel engine? That's all -- thanks for the input.

You are not crazy for considering this.

1KZ-TE.

Don't go with the 2LT-E. Not that it won't move a 4-runner, but the heads will crack. Lame.

I'm with everyone else here, don't go with a 2l-te, I've got one in my surf and Its head cracked from front to back. If I could have waited for another surf I would have got one with the 1kz
