Alignment

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't my camber be set to 0 degrees?

My alignment guy is saying the camber can be off by 1 degree and it's still in spec?

I can obviously tell that the wheels are not sitting at 0 degress when looking at it from the front.

Did you get a print out with before and after specs? We are required to do that for every alignment: 1 degree is hardly noticeable but if you can tell visually at a glance I would ask for a print out its probably more then 1 degree and he is blowing smoke up your ass. Not only that but if its the camber is noticeably off what about the rest of the alignment?

Its a shady operation how some shops do business, a print out is something that upon request shops usually provide if not every give for alignment. Did he verify that it was only 1 degree with paper? It can be a bit out of spec but with my experience its not noticeable looking at it. Just my .02, if you pay for an alignment you deserve proof of the work.

Good luck bud.

Yea, I think he was blowing smoke, the guy is a local old timer in town, I don't know how much business he does, from the looks of it, I think it's just a place for him and his buddies to drink coffee and shoot the shit. I wanted to give him a shot...I gave him 3 chances to adjust the camber, today I called showed up at his shop in the morning and reminded him that the camber is still off, his reply was "No, it isn't!"...I pointed at the front of my truck and told him to get his eyes checked. The only cool thing about the guy is that he said he wouldn't take my money...

I already setup an appointment at a different local shop near my work that just bought a brand new snap-on alignment deal, they are going to look at it tomorrow, I'll let you know how it goes.

The old timer reminded me why I work on my own rigs ...some people are just plain lazy.

Yeah, thats true. Every shop has its shady side thats why I work at one so I can do the work myself or have the mechanic do it. Also just a thought many places you can get alignment checks for free, not sure about California... My guess that other shop is going to be more professional and accurate with your alignment. Let us know how it goes. Its never fun to call some one out especially when they think they have been around the block a time or two and like to believe they know more then you. Just because they work at a shop doesn't make them a professional and you paid for a certain quality of work and didn't receive. It sucks they try to make you give in and just agree with something that they know they are they just don't like to show or own up to there incompetence.

I am glad you didn't let him push you around, I hate that $hit, Ive seen too many guys push people around. Especially girls, my girlfriend and my sister know to call me before some @sshole tries to tell them they need something they don't. I just realized how bitter I am right now, I need a nap.
