dome light LED for my '85 truck

Anyone replace the stock bulb w/ an LED unit? Got LED's in both 80's and was really happy w/ the difference in light output. What type (bulb #) does the dome light take?

I have them in my 80 and in the dome and cargo lights of my 85 4Runner. You can buy cheaper but not better IMHO.

i will have to check him out working on changing all my bulbs to led. been using super bright leds on line. love the new interior lights much brighter.

Are 4runner and truck dome lights different? I pulled one of George's LED's off my '97 and it really didn't fit properly. Can you post a pic? Thanks.

I'm not back into the country until Saturday. I can probably post some pics early next week. My BIL put them in for me. He said it was tight in the 4Runner but it went in. He sent me some photos but only of the light output before and after.

If you go to that thread that I linked and back up a few posts from the end, you will see that someone else with a Gen1 4Runner posted that they fit in his as well. You might send them a PM and see if they can shoot a pic for you.

I may be wrong, but I believe the dome lights in 4Runners are totally different than the ones in pickups. Mine is integrated into my rearview mirror, just ahead of the maplights. The 4Runner domelight is in the roof, right at the back edge of the metal portion of the roof, so it also lights up the rear seat area. They are very different, and I can believe that George's LEDs would fit in them. I had a set in my FJ62 and I loved them, but there's no way they will fit in my current dome light.

I have a dome light from a 2nd gen 4Runner in my parts box, I wanna install it in the back of my xcab some day to light up the shelf, then I'll probably get an LED bulb from George.

I knew the lights were different but I naively assumed that Toyota would have used the same internals. Thanks for clarifying.
