new truck, some questions
Hi guys,
just bought a beautiful 81 minitruck, without a speck of rust. Now I have some beginners questions:
How big is the gas tank?
where can I get the FSM?
Is there a SOR for minitrucks? I am looking for stuff like seat covers, carpet kits, car cover...what are the vendors? I will keep this truck stock, but the seats definitely need some love.
that's it for now, I'll add pics tomorrow, as my intewrnet connection at home is painfully slow.
thanks, cheers,
Jan

Oh I don't think so man... you don't just stroll on over here with NO PICS! (internet speed notwithstanding) and start making demands.....
Don't know on the gas tank, is it a long or short bed?

We aren't quite as lucky in the one-stop-shop SOR side of things, let us know exactly what you're looking for.
Carpet maybe:

Man, both green stars are ganging up on you. Pics boy, pics!
Gas tank. I think my 82 had a 14 gallon, but I'm not sure.
FSM: Toyota Materials Distribution Center. (800) 622-2033. You can also order Owner's Manuals, which will answer your gas tank question.
Sorry, no SOR for us.
Seats. I would find a nice set of buckets from a boneyard truck. They will be close to bolt in.
Carpet. JCWhitney.

My 83 also had an approximate 14-gallon tank.
I got my FSM on ebay.

The truck looks like new, and the previous owner did a great job with it.

Agreed, we forbid you to drive it, except in parades, and the occasional Toyota 4wd show and shine, but you will not be allowed to actually enter the competition, as you have an unfair advantage....
Further more, you need to add a garage door to your house so it can be parked inside a climate controlled environment, and you can now sleep in the garage... or on the driveway, whichever it may be...
Just remember to have fun! Hehehe
On a serious note, if you don't have a garage to park it in, go get a car cover!!!!!!!

yes, it's the truck Mark built, and he did an amazing job.
I complete the small missing pieces, like repairing the washer, adding the latch to the rear window, and redo the interior.
and yes, it'll be garaged.
cheers,
J

you suck
why dont they sell trucks that nice this side of the Cascades?
FYI when resealing engine stuff use toyota seals. NAPA stuff sucks on toyotas.
make sure you adjust the rear shoes.
check the FAQ often and use OE parts when possible

I want to keep it stock. I ordered the seat foams from sor, as the seats seem to be very similar to the land cruiser seats. that and some new covers should do it.
cheers,
J
