need A/C! It's too hot here!

I have been surrendering to staying indoors because my '87 has no A/C or fan of any sort. recently it was working perfectly, but now, when flipping the switch, all i hear is the relay clicking, and no fan blowing. temperature controls all work, but the fan doesn't. help!

The fan probably needs replacing, it's located on the passenger side far right inside the cab. Look up under there, the round black part you see about 2" in diameter with two wires leading to it is the fan motor. Pull it (four screws) and check to see if it works by jumping to the battery. it doesn't=need to order fan. It does=check back thru the wiring to the fuse and switch.

before it died did it only work on one or two settings for fan speed? I ask because there are a set of 4 resistors attached to the fan unit that always blow out. And when the resistor for whatever setting blows you loose that setting entirely till you replace the resistor.

Usually it's the resistor; located on the passenger's firewall in front of the glovebox, above the fan. Maybe it's the fan...easy (but cramped) to remove and check. If all else fails, see photo...
