Front main seal replacement on 22RE
I didn't find anything on the tech link and search.
Do I need to take the chain off (I believe this engine is chain driven) to replace the front seal? I got oil flying everywhere in the front. I have done work on belt driven, but not chain. It looks like all I need to do is taking off the pully. Could someone confirm or give me some directions, tips etc. Thank you. Last edited by Lor; 11-08-04 at 04:57 PM. |

It can be done by just removing the pulley if you have a hook type seal puller like used for a motorcycle fork seal and a driver big enough to install the new seal. Otherwise do like bkg said and pull the pump off.

I always use a screwdriver very carefully to pry the seal away. A socket will drive the new one home. Easy twenty minute job. Danny |
