Hey guys I am looking at Trail Gears front bumper on their website and am wondering what one I order since I have an 89 Hilux RHD pickup with the solid axle front end.

Will the bumper for the Pickup 89-95 fit or do I need the early one for my truck?

I don't want to order the wrong one.

Here is a link to the bumpers page: Trail-Gear Inc > Toyota Bumpers

I need either Pickup Model #1 or Pickup Model #3 just not sure which one.

I attachecd a few pics of the front of my truck to help you see what front end is on the truck if that helps... Just remember there is a stock solid front axle under there!

I emailed Trail Gear and they were NO help at all so I need you guys to assist if you can.

Thanks in Advance!!!

Trail gear is usually no help at all..... I would look at allpro or marlin if it were mine. BTW super cool truck!

They might be no help but their front bumper is bad ass looking... Way better then marlins in my opinion. No matter... I will figure it out somehow. I just need to figure out if the front of the frame and cross member and lower rad support are the same as the north american 88 - 95 models and then order that one. I guess I could go to the wreckers and take come measurments.

i think all of them will fit, you just have to build a reinforcement angle iron on top of the stock crossmember.

And they ARE badass! I have the tg winch mount which they use for base of the bumpers... Just find your look and buy it!

I love those trucks, a friend of mine has the same here. He is running 38s and huge icelandic flares.

Check out Marlin. I was an All Pro fan and I got my front bumper from them. I had to heavily modify it and beat my core support with a sledge hammer to get it to fit my 89.

To state the obvious, Your body style came with ifs here in the USA. You need a bumper designed for a factory solid axle (1985 or older) which of course had a different body style. So the question is does the trailgear bumper bolt to any toy front end regardless of whether it is factory ifs, factory solid axle or converted to solid axle?

I was thinking the same thing while comparing his photos to photos of my '85 (I was just too lazy to articulate a reply earlier today!).

I'm gonna say he needs to get the 89-95. B/c I don't see a thing that makes the frame, or where, or how the winch guard will get bolted to the frame, that's different from an 85 to 95. Other than the body conflicting with mounting. The only difference in a 84-95 frame is the front spring hangers. As long as you're not bolting the winch bumper on to any part of the suspension, I don't see a problem.

i think all of them will fit,

strongly agree

as i stated above, a friend of mine has the same truck! It has the same mounting points as my ifs truck... Use which one you want! It wasn`t my opinion, it was a fact...

Post pix after wards! I want to see it!

Certain bumpers like the arb on my 94 ifs mini dont just swap over to a solid axle truck.

might want to pull off your front bumper so we can see whats behind there...

who were you going to order through? id suggest asking taran over at bigcountrycustoms.com. im sure the bumper will need modding as the 89-95 NA frame front ends are different than the JDM's due to the SA/IFS etc. taran will be able to mod the bumper or your front end if need be to make it fit for you im sure...

I ordered the 89 - 95 model from Trail Gear.... I am more concerned about it following the body lines then bolting up correctly... I can modify the mounting points.

If I got the earlier style bumper the corner radius may be different then that of mine on my body since it is the newer generation. So I decided that I will just deal with it as it comes and just "make it work".

I will for sure post pics when I am done...

I have the front bumper and rock sliders coming from Trail Gear and then a rear bumper coming from Marlin.

sorry that was my buddy "N8" using my sign on, I guess he just really wants your truck

Trail Gear was no help because they don't give a fxxx about anyone. Don't spend your money there, there are plenty of other shops, and manufacturers out there that will be willing to spend the time to help you out because they care.

Too late! Actually they have really nice products. Well built. Sorry you feel so badly about them.
