semi newbi whith a turbo question

Hello all,
While I have not posted very often (rarely)I have been surfing mud for a few years now and have been able to find the information i need through searching. I own a 78 FJ 40 with an 80 over 283 sbc. My dad owns a 93 mini truck, 4X4 with the 22re motor and is in the process of adding a turbo to it for a little more power. The one we are going with is the CT20. does any one know the torque specks for the compressor wheel? Also, the exhaust housing on the turbo turned out to be junk (got it used on e-bay) does any one have or know where to get a good used housing?
Thanks

As for specs i have no clue, but I know a guy who had a ton of turbo parts laying around, just not enough to make a complete system. It was a CT20. His name was Colson, C. Colson I believe. It was on craiglist under joplin missouri. But now i cant find his email. Sorry!

There is a group on Yahoo devoted just to the 22RTE engine, lots of very knowledgable folks on there. You'll probably get the answers to all your questions there, plus I bet you'll have no trouble finding any parts you need.

CT20 to T3 adapter: Where to buy?

From all I could find on the subject, factory w/o customisation. Both the CT20 and CT26 are at 7 psi. But naturally the CT26 moves more CFM(?). And as far as the stock manni, and as I'm just finding out, the CT20s housing are REALLY common to crack. That really wouldn't deter me from using one, I'd just have to use a good one. The prices of the customs will bring it home really quick why.

If I went Turbo on my 22REs(9.3:1 c/r), I'd decompress. And you can either do that w/ an RTE head, or RTE pistons. Doing both (an RTE spec block) will have you at 7.5:1 c/r. With an old in-efficient turbo like the CTs I'd bump the compression up from the 7.5 c/r with either a 22RE head or pistons, with a better turbo (T3) I'd leave the (7.5)c/r alone.

LC Engineering

Don't get excited with dreams of power. The RTEs are VERY limited to enhancements with its old, caveman extinct, very generic engine mangment system.

People have successfully Turbo'd 22REs in the past but just know the distributor is lacking in one key, very important feature to forced inductions. In stock form, IIRC, the dist does not retard as much as the RTE spec does(which requires the RTE computer). And that can be VERY hazardous to your engine under boost levels.

I'd do a T-Chain and bolt on some POWA!!. 22REs last as long as they do partially b/c they don't have allot of power to begin with. The key to 22REs is not expecting much in the first place. I'll take longevity any day over POWA!!

Thanks for the replys everyone, liljlandon i will see if i cant find this C. colson you talked about. And i will defenitly check into that yahoo group klf. Hilux, my dad is not after a hole lot of power, just a little bit more than it has. from talking with some peaple here in town, the ct26 would require after market injectors and he is not wanting to go quite that far. T
hanks again for the information everyone.
p.s that is a sweet looking motor Hilux

the RTEs (CT20) have bigger injectors to...so..? I really don't see the difference.

oh, and anything over 8psi (so says the net) will require an inter cooler. But in all honesty, it wouldn't hurt to have it on on a motor w/ less.
