need a 20r or 22r block in Washington

Well like the title says I need a block. The truck is on the side of the road right now and I really need it to finish moving into my new place.... It was a really bad time for this to happen. If anyone in the Seattle area can help me out and has a block sitting that they would like some cash for please let me know asap.

Thanks

What happened to it? What year is your truck?

How did this happen/what kind of noise did it make when it died?

Well it was kinda quiet really for a rod that is. I was at very low rpms. I have built quite a few engines and granted I haven't actually seen the rod but it is now a loud banging noise towards the rear of the engine when cranking over. I have taken the cam cover off and everything checks out there.

If you're lucky the rod cap hasn't fallen off yet, and you bay be able to "save" it long enough to get through your move. I'm not up on 2wd stuff, can you get the pan off without pulling the engine? If so you may be able to stick it all back together and run it, at least for a while. Can you get it towed somewhere where you can work on it?

I have a 22RE long block sitting behind my garage that I'd LOVE to get rid of, but I'm sure the shipping would be ugly... oh yeah I have another one in storage too.

I gotta start getting rid of this stuff...

wrong block ain't it? then if you get a an EFI head the intake wont fit...then if he does get an intake, he'll need a 22R carb won't he?

Yeah I am not too sure about the 22re block fitting either. I know an early model 22r block will be fine or of course a 20r block. I would really like to find something local too but beggers can't be choosers.

As far as the cap still hanging there. I really doubt it. From the sound it is completely off. I still need to get the truck in the garage though to make sure.

Even if the cap is off, it may be salvageable. You may need new bearings and rod cap bolts/nuts... clean up the crank with some emery cloth.... etc. You gotta believe man!!!! "Oh what you do for me!!!" These things are tough, and I've seen them pull of miracles before. Get the pan off, then decide what to do, because speculation is usually a waste of time....

I like the way you guys think. I am willing to give it a shot but the truck is sitting at parking lot that would almost definitely get me in trouble if I tried working on it too much there...

Thanks, can you tell I'm an optimist... Hehehe I'll tell you what. Lets see if we can get some local help for you. Maybe a tow at least... Where exactly is the truck? Where exactly are you, and how soon do you need this all to come together?

Post that here, and go start a thread in the WA South Sound Cruisers section asking for some help. I'll ask a buddy up there, and we'll see what happens.

I'm so ****ing buying you a beer somehow.
I actually might have everything locked down. I contacted NW Wheelers and another very cool dude offered me a 20r in unknown condition... hopefully usable. I got a buddy up here that is going to help me tow it. I will keep everyone posted though.

This seems like a very cool community btw. I am amazed at the quality of people I am meeting here. Makes me want to turn my 75 into a wheeling rig just to hang out.

I just acquired two 22rs for my 82. I only need one so if you have a way to get it from N.E. Utah to you, you can have it to get you going.

I don't drink, but thanks! What goes around comes around man, I just got a free distributor in the mail from another member so I can get my 4Runner back on the road. Toyota draws good people.

And there's a link or 2 in the FAQ (see link in my signature) here on 2wd/4wd conversions.... (cough) Hehe

Well just an update for you guys. The truck is home yay \o/
I drove for 2 hours ( 4 hours round trip ) to pick up a block that a guy on another forum offered me for free. It has a little rust in one of the cylinders. I don't think it is pitted too bad but will at least need a good hone. So I won't be on the road for a bit... I guess the big thing is that it is home and safe. A buddy of mine helped me pull it with his 2006 toyota pickup.

Thanks again for all of your guys support.

Good news! Just hone it out and run it man! I fixed up a Ford 390 over the winter. It had sat for 10 years and sometime a bit of water got in one of the cylinders... I had to pull the head and take a wire wheel to it, just to get it to turn over, so I could get the thing out of the truck! Good times... It runs like a champ though. Let us know how it goes, and I hope the move comes out alright.

I picked up a wrecked 78 with a running motor and a 5 speed for $300 in seattle. I am just pulling it all out and dropping it in the 75. Lots of other little parts on the 78 that I will be using too. Once I have some more time. If anyone in the monroe/sultan area needs anything off the truck or the whole damn thing beside what I need they are welcome to it. I have a clean title for it.

wooohoo

Pics of the truck I will be getting rid of. Like I said I will be taking the engine and gearbox but the rest is either going to the scrap yard or to whoever

needs it on this forum.

Here is a pic of my truck just for the hell of it. Nothing special.
