Strange Tachometer Issue
Hi all.
On the way home today, I noticed that at IDLE my tach showed 0 rpms BUT if I revved it up it registered as normal-or at least it moved like it was normal. Idle is perfectly fine i.e. smooth/right around 750-800 rpm Thought? Is the tach electronic or mechanical? OK just searched and found that the tach is electronic.
So, why 0 at idle all of a sudden??? __________________ "May you be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead" 1992 4x4 PU |

That's bizarre... Does it operate normally, but 750-800 under what it should be all the time? Or when you hit the gas it jumps up to normal?
Either way..... weird. It gets its signal from the coil...... My guess is something's up in the tach its self, cause the coil's sending a signal if your truck is running..... __________________ Jerod The 79-95 Truck/4Runner FAQ 89 4Runner "The James Caird" 01 4Runner, for my Jefferson State Cruisers |

I would have to agree it is the tachometer. The connection are solid at the igniter and the tach works when I hit the gas-regardless if I am in gear or not. Oh well. I can live with it. __________________ "May you be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead" 1992 4x4 PU |

After a day or so, tach went back to normal. Really odd. Operates perfectly now. __________________ "May you be in heaven a half an hour before the devil knows you're dead" 1992 4x4 PU |
