Aussie Locker Rave!!
Just wanted to let you guys and gals (??) that I've been contemplating different lockers with the top of my list being the elocker set-up. Time and funds pushed me back to the trusty old lock-right... after a "we have it.. oh it's back-ordered"
round and round with a dist. I decided to look for alternatives. I've read some great reviews on the Aussie locker and hey.. it's cheaper/same price range than the Powertrax unit!!After a lengthy evening of putting this thing in (directions were dead-on and had great reference material) it has the exact same install time as most lunch-box lockers with only one side step of a small amount of grinding to open the window to the carrier a little to fit the larger pieces. Off the bat I thought something was wrong... no "BANG!!" . Just smooth operation, barely audible click click on tight radius turning and road manners that rival or beat my full detroit in the last rig. I was still planning on an e-locker for the front of the rig but I think I'm going this same route and directing the extra funds to at set of seats... those harnesses can be a great peace of mind!!Just a thought...

Thanks for the heads up! Aussie Locker
Glad to know it is so good. Have you put her to a real test yet?Where did you get yours, and how much was it? I have the Aussie on my wish list. Does this require any special experience, or is it mainly a nuts and bolts kind of job, (except for the grinding)? KellyFJ55

Kelly,
Mainly nuts and bolts, follow Zuk's directions on his website (I googled ZUK Aussie install). That guy should never have to pay for dinner as many wheelers as his info has helped out!! Great pics and instructions. The only issue I had was breaking loose the ring gear bolts which after I walked into our warehouse and picked up a Longacre cordless impact gun problem solved. I'm sure a breaker bar would work but the impact way is so much easier. The grinding and a torque wrench and you're good to go. As far as some testing Kelly, I was pretty hard on it in the paved parking lot (I have an extra complete axle so I wasn't too worried) and some test rocks out back that lift the tires completely off the ground for momentum climb while slamming them back on the ground under rotation.. no issues. That's how I grenaded my powertrax but there could've been more variables. I'm just shocked at the road manners more than anything else. This weekend wheeling should give me more insight. __________________ 85 turbo mini locked and loaded with a tightened arse! SOLD95 FJZ80 Lockers OME

So, no one has an ethical issue with Torq Masters Technology Aussie Locker.

I have an issue with them using the name 'Aussie' whilst they can't prove they've got anything to do with Australia.
When they come up with a new release, they advertise, and even post on this forum, about the new application stating how it was designed and tested in Australia. But how can they do this in Australia, if those vehicles were never available here? __________________ 1986 Nuclear Reactor 1985 Toyota LN65R LIFE AIN'T WORTH LIVING WHEN YOU DIE BEFORE YOU'RE MEANT TO! |

Just back from the weekend and after pummeling the front and rear drive shafts, putting the vehicle almost on it's side twice (one would've been a multiple roll) I'm sure the locker was working just fine!! Now for beefier burfs and a front locker!!

60 series owner intrusion ahead!
Just poking my head in to say I had an Aussie installed in my Dodge Ramcharger 4-5 yrs ago, Bill C. and John Z. (of Torq-Masters) were both more than helpful. It's still installed, and continues to serve faithfully to this day. With the addition of manual hubs to replace the stock drive flanges, it's been a great addition. When the time comes to lock up my 62, I'm looking at Aussie. I would recommend Longs/Poly's in the newly locked axles, as the best way to kill an otherwise healthy lunchbox locker would be the shock load from a grenaded axleshaft. __________________ ="Are you gonna sit there on that friggin computer all day or what?"The desert dwellin, roadrunner chasin, soooper-genius!
