Rear shackle question
Hello everyone, I've been watching the site for awhile now but never registered til now. I'd like to thank everyone for the wealth of information I've gotten for starting on my first Toyota.
I have a simple question though...I started tearing the truck apart to do my sas and rear lift and am getting close to done with the weekends I can work on it. My question though is about the rear spring shackles...I lightly tacked the hangers in the 'recommended' positions that I've gathered from everyone including the general installation from AllPro, and my shackle angle without any weight to support is actually pointing forward about a half inch. I know when i set the pickup down on it that the spring with compress a little and the shackle will come back, but will it come all the way back to that 15 or 20 degree mark??? If anyone else has seen this and knows let me know...hopefully I'm just being paranoid about it. Thanks. |

No, there is no weight on the shackles other than the weight of the spring. I know when its supporting the weight of the truck the angle will be better, but I dont think it will go to 45 degrees. With no weight (basically at full droop) its sitting at like -5 or -10 degrees. Maybe it will move back that far but it sure doesnt seem like it to me.
I moved the shackle hanger back 1.5 inches but the way things look right now I might ought to have left it where it was. I know I can move the hanger again and all, but I thought I'd ask the people who might know first, and sorry about no pics...my camera shot craps and I havent broke down to replace it yet. |
