92 TRUCK question for the experts.....
A buddy brought his 92 xtracab over last night to pick up some 4Runner wheels I sold him. I noticed there was a little metal box tucked under his front bumper with two wires hanging from it's bottom and is located on the driver's side. The wires had both been severed. I was wondering what the little box is? It is factory equipment and has a little plastic shroud above it to protect it, presumably, and fits perfectly up under the bumper and between the frame, etc. I could not take a pic as it was pretty dark and had no flash camera.
Any clue as to what that little box is? We'd love to know.

It's a 92 pickup then. Okay. The parts around the box are fitted to accommodate it, so methinks it's there on purpose. I can try to get a pic but since it ain't mine you gonna have to wait...

whoa... easy, there tiger!
its not even his truck, you know
any way if its on the passenger side maybe the box is a homebrew windsheild washer reservoir. an over charged battery may have leaked sulfuric acid on the OE plastic reservoir, causing a leak, or maybe from corosion. cause toyota didnt install any type of box up there.
if its on the drivers side, maybe a homebrew coolant reservoir

It it equipped with the factory electric pusher fan? If so there is a resister for it that mounts on the lower cross member.

Are you sure you aren't the guy (incognito maybe) that used to post all the time from Tennessee....something like TNToyota? If not, you two could be twins.

Oh yeah, it's him alright, he's back. And trying to get banned again, I see.
Some kids never learn...
Alex, I've been under several bumpers of this vintage, I've owned a '92 and a '94. Never seen any box under there like you describe. But we need pics.
If you say it's disconnected and just hanging there, try to remove it. Just about every OEM part has a part number on it somewhere. If you do find a number, post it here and I will trace it.

Does this truck have an air bag? (I think 92 is too early, but worth a guess...)

thats a thought I had as well,
wonder if the donor bumper was.....
but it would have to be a 95 4runner bumper and valence ???? easly ID'd by the modular "wingless"(bumper corners NOT bolted on) design.

Did the '95 4Runner get air bags? I'm pretty sure they didn't. Our '94 xcab didn't have them.
I've seen some pickups that got nose jobs, swapped them to the 4Runner nose. Very different, the 4Runner has flush, almost wrap-around headlights, whereas the pickups still had the sealed beams.
It's not part of the ABS either, the sensor for that is under the center console.
Alex, we need pictures!!!
