randomly shuts off

hi guys, i have a very strange problem. yeasterday while i was driving my truck randomly shut off the started back up, TWICE. i was just driving when the radio shut off and the engine died but because i was rolling it started right back up.i have no idea what the hell this is! any ideas?

Obviously an electrical problem. . .sounds like a loose connection somewhere

all i have done was change the EFI fuse cause it was melted for some strange reason

Send a PM to Megolfer here on MUD. He had the same problem with his 1st Gen and finally figured out what it was. Hottrod81 assisted with the diagnostics and repair so he may know as well.

Sounds like an intermittent short. Try tracing the wires for the EFI system to see if one is worn through at a spot. I was having problems with a tractor. It would continue to run (diesel) but the gauges would all fail and 4WD would kick in when not asked for. Finally had the whole wiring harness replaced. Found 6 spots in the old harness that were intermittently shorting.

Check for melted O2 wires around your exhaust, have seen this before.
