I've got a 90 22RE 5-speed that doesn't want to idle when warm. It will start up when cold and idle fast until it's warm; but after a 45 min run down the interstate to work, the idle drops down to less than 400 rpm when I start hitting traffic lights. I've adjusted the idle with the engine warm three times in the past week but keep ending up with the same issue.
Any thoughts?

When was the last time it got:

* New plugs
* New plug wires
* Distributor cap
* Rotor
* Fuel filter
* Air filter
* Cleaned the throttle body
* Checked the TPS adjustment

* New plugs - 1 month ago
* New plug wires - 1 year ago
* Distributor cap - 1 year ago
* Rotor - 1 year ago
* Fuel filter - no clue
* Air filter - probably due for a change.
* Cleaned the throttle body - 1 year ago
* Checked the TPS adjustment - What you talking 'bout Willis?

Thanks

The TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor, it's a black thing on one end of the shaft that holds the throttle plate in the throttle body. It's on the end opposite of where your accelerator cable is attached. It can get out of adjustment or fail, and cause idle problems. The FSM has a detailed procedure on how to test and adjust it.

had the same problem last fall with my 22re and same with my friends 22re i just had to clean out the cold start valve don't know why it was doing that to my truck, it's worth a shot

also try cleaning out the throttle body that may not fix it but it should help, take it off the truck and clean it out with starter fluid (i find it works the best), make sure all the vacume line ports are not obstructed

You may want to check this little thing here in the top pictuce but more importanty check what the idle up is connected to. The hose may be plugged into the wrong nipple. When it is warm the check valve may be pushing instead of sucking, etc.
