My Bad 91 Runner on 39.5's (should have got 42's)

Here me and my rig, ive recently added the trailmaster 4" lift kit to my rig. I did that mostly because of legal issues here in Norway. But now my runner is about to become street legal (finally).

I`ve done lots of modifications on it. Lots of grinding and welding. 37s fitted on my car without any other lift than 2" BL. I have fender flares from iceland, installed intercooler, 3" exhaust, 4" trailmaster, tabor 9k winch with multimount front and rear, 5:29 gears, aussielocker rear/detroit true-track front, plus lots more...

1. picture with only 2" BL and 37s

2. picture with 4" trailmaster, 2" bl and M/T MTZ radial 38x15,5/15

It does have the ifs front end, Im having trouble getting the sas approved by the norwegian DMV.

Thanx, I have used the site for tech support for a while and figured it was about time to register... If u check my profile theres a link to my buildup site at the scandinavian pirate site.

But a friend of mine is working as technical director at DMV here, so I am hoping to get it street legal with sas within a year. Need some papers from Toyota too... I`m thinkin LJ70 frontaxle with original toyota brackets welded on my frame. This seems to me as a good solution because the frame with are identical and also the lj70 front axle is approved for a higher weight than the toyota truck.

I also have bought the 1KZT (3 liter diesel) so I can replace my 2LT and get a little more ompf.

Future plans includes mid-axle hand-brake(if thats the right term), ordered from all-pro and should be her early next week.

dual transfer

Safari snorkel

and rear disc conversion. If anyone have some parts for me here I would appreciate it...

I am competing at lapland trophy this year, and my rig should be ready till then. Hopefully with snorkel, but rear discs and dual transfer is within my long term plans...

37s werent a problem, I am to interested in how the ifs is holding up. But this isnt the first runner/truck with ifs and 38s here. On Iceland they are quite common.

I am doing a Terrain Touring competition on saturday. And I will post an update on both tires and suspension.... Since I have tested neither...

That truck is sweet. And Im finally going to break down. Where do I get some cool Icelandic fender flares? I plan on going kind of wide, and wouldnt mind people wondering if my rig came from iceland lol.

Thanx!

http://www.brettakantar.is/ here you get them, the widest are about 18cm. And they are made for 44" tires without lifting the car. Mine are about 11 cm front and a bit less rear. Made for 37s. Expect some cutt`n....

Not especially expencive, around 800usd I pressume...

Cool, thanks for the link, I plan on cutting anyway so they couldn't hurt, although for that much cash there are a lot of other things I could buy like and crossover steering .

I have done a little thinking and sold my 38s. Some much of the work I`d allready done had to be done again to fit the 38s after removing the bodylift. (The bodylift have to be removed to get the rig street legal in Norway). So I`ve bought Irok 36s radial which I`m going to put on my 15x12 rockcrawlers after welding some beadlocks on them. Will be getting my new tires next week, and the rims should be ready with beadlocks then....

Some pix of the car with 31s... looks funny, but now my rig is FAST...

I can't read the language on that site, and there is no translation option. I did see the tire size listings for the flares, though. Are you saying those flares are designed to allow you to fit that tire size on the factory suspension, i.e. 44's on an 80 with no lift?

LOL do your research. You'll break your IFS like nothing on 33's let alone 38's... I popped an idler arm and broke a CV on 33x12's wheeling litely. IFS is junk get a SFA under that rig.

I know there are lots of guys having trouble with the ifs, but here in Norway and on iceland there are LOTS of ifs trucks with 33s and upwards without any (eh, with only slightly) trouble. It all comes back to your driving, know your car and its weaknesses and its my oppinion that it should last. But a sas kit is on my wish list, I just have to get it pre-approved first...

Toyota in Norway give cars with ifs and 37s full waranty!!!!!!

and I have run it on 35s and 37s for 18 months without any trouble...

I would say your lucky then. Now if we were talking later model IFS thats a different story. And "knowing your weakness" can only take you so far IMO.
