Had some trouble with my car lately, first my starter had to be replaced, then the batteries and 2 night ago a braketube failed. So I had to cut, make a new peace and mount it together.

Today I take my runner to Lapland Trophy in the north of Finland. This is a 24hrs GPS trophy competition and Im looking forward to it.

Will post pix afterwards, I reckon monday-ish...

Well, I had lots a fun this weekend. But there weren't much wheeling... I had only driven 150km (of the 600km) on my way to Raajarvi just outside Rovaniemi Finland before my rear diff broke down. It was one of the bolts holding the carrier bearings that had unscrewed itself. Had an extra diff with me and after being towed to a nearby garage I changed it. A break line broke down to, so I had to get a rally-driver living nearby to make me a new one.

Well, got going again... The next day we checked the gears on the broken down diff, the damage was acceptable so we got a finnish mechanic to set it up and that was impressive. We changed back again and the car was ready for the competition saturday morning.

On the first check post I ran over a three trunk and blew a tire! So I had to change it. I ran one more post with 4wd before I blew the CV joint rescuing a Jeep (with a hot blond Swedish girl in) out of a mud/water pond.

We took the left front side apart, checked for damaged and found that the joint was ok and put everything back together. tested it and after rolling the car forward 1 m the cv popped out again. We took it out once again and welded on a few rods to prevent it from popping out. But something else has twisted so when it turned it wanted to pop out again.

We went to eat and took a time out. After a while we decided to run enough posts to get a result. And we minimum had to get 10 approved posts. So we ran 17 post with only rear wheel drive. After about 10 point with 2H we rearranged the vacuum system for the ADD so that it disconnected when put in 4wd so that we could save the clutch and also get better control.

So now I have started collecting parts to do a LJ70 front axle swap for my car! Also some arbs are on my to-do list...

The garage that set up my rear diff took the cost with new gears and are installing it as soon as it gets here...

I`m still a bit tired though...

some pix are posted here... http://pirate4x4.no/forum/showthread.php?t=4630

He he, it was a reference to my technical breakdown on the way to finland, and the time it took to fix it and the time I got there... It took allot more time than anticipated...

But it was worth it!

Just joined this forum, and I just gotta say that that's one sweet rig you got there! Especially considering the hoops you gotta jump through with your DMV and such!

Living here in Arizona, I just cringe at the site of dunking a rig in mud... I just see that as a 2-3 days of clean up! Anywho, keep the updates coming!
Later,
Chad

My project build on WAZ... needs to be updated, but I'm too busy working on other junk...

I usually sleep lying down...

I`m starting the cutting on Monday or Tuesday I think, it will be great.

I have ordered new 4-link arms from all-pro also, with jonny joints. But I am still concerned about the front/rear ride hight.

Will post pix along the way!

I have now started grinding the ifs mounts. So the project is slowly moving forward.

I have rebuilt the knuckle houses, still waiting for some parts. Also waiting for the diff with new gears and air locker. I reckon much work will be done this weekend.

Will post pix...

I would think it is lighter with SA... Theres lot of steel to remove, a-bars, heavy diff, t-bars, .... lots...

Dont know how to get a number for you, but I would think theres a significant change. And I have removed a few to many parts to measure...

So the feathered weight will be lower... You will move at least 50kg from feathered to unfeathered weight. Which will make it more stable...

when you say feathered and unfeathered, are you referring to sprung and unsprung weight?

Nice rides man. I like that you rocked the IFS so long with 39s on your runner. Badass. Your BJ is awesome too, I'd definteily like to see some more shots of that thing.
