spark plug settings?
i changed my spark plugs and feel my truck is running worse. i was told .32 is the gap i need on the plug. that apears to be twice that of the gap in my old plugs. any one know if that is the right setting or not?

here, ill post this in plain view. all this information is from NGK.
HogWild you are right, the bosch super plugs should not be used in anything other than german cars. and never should any platinum plug ever be installed in a 22RE or 3.0 YEAR ENGINE PART No. GAP (inches) WIRE SET 4RUNNER: 2005-03 V-6 1GR-FE 5788 .044 2005-03 V-8 2UZFE 2756 .044 2002-96 V-6 5VZ-FE 6953 .044 4412 2000-97 L-4 3RZ-FE 2087 .032 4441 2000 L-4 3RZ-FE 2526 .044 *LEV* 4441 1996 L-4 3RZ-FE 2087 .032 4447 1995-93 L-4 22RE 1233 .032 4417 1995-92 V-6 3VZ-E 2087 .032 4416 1992-86 L-4 22RE 1233 .032 9799 1991-89 V-6 3VZ-E 2087 .032 8140 1988-85 L-4 22R-TEC 1233 .032 *TURBO* 9799 1988 V-6 3VZE 1266 .032 8139 1985 L-4 22REC 1233 .032 9799 1984 L-4 22R 1233 .032 9799 |

because the platinum plug is desinged to be ignited backwards from a normal plug. the spark will jump from the ground to the conductor.
and when used in a application that requires standard plugs, there is more resistinace on the plug, and the secondary igniton circut has to work harder.

In my experience, in an asian motor, ngks are basically the only option. ngks are by far the best plug made. Be sure to stay away from autolite, or champion for sure. I sould recommend to you an ngk v-power at .032. Keep all cap, rotor and wires oem as well and you will eliminate alot of problems.

i was looking at denso pdf file on toyota website and they reccomend plantnium pk16r11 but ya go to denso website and they reccomen pk16r8?? just do not wanta damadge truck!! cause the r11's gap is .44 and the r8's is .33, whats weird is my chiltons manual says the oem standard plug gap is .41? kinda confusing but i know it's just a flippin 93 3.0L V6 and go cheap but platnium plugs extend service life double from standard plugs and the V6 plugs are a pain in a couple places!! gotta remove air box to T/B on drivers side and back one on passengers side is tight for my big hands!! i know quite the complaining!!

if you use a plug that isnt desinged for the engine, the ignition has to work harder to push a spark through a path that it wasnt desiged to flow. the primary circuit is the distributor sensor, ignitor and primary ignition coils. the secondary circut is the distributor cap, rotor, seconary ignition coil winds and coil wire. |

well good. as long as those plugs are whats listed as OEM for that engine, it will run good like that for 80-100,000 miles.

what double platinum means is, there is a platinum pad on the tip of the electrode, and the tip of the conductor.

yep i do not have a 3/8" drive TW and my 1/2" only goes to 20 Ft Lbs which is a little over so i just did the 1/4 to 1/2 turn method described on the denso box. Guess i should start planning next project!! Clutch,PP & TBearing just wonder if i should just go OEM parts or aftermarket? Thanks for all your info!! BTW
