30spline Longs possible on stock 27 axle?

So obviously my axle I get from any mini truck will be 27 spline if its stock. If I were to put 30spline longs in what else would I need to do? Change out my carrier in my third? Would I then need a different locker? Is it even possible/worth it?

Your inner spline count is 30. At the outer end of the inner axle the count is 27 stock. Longfields are 30 spline inner axle and birfs so they are all you need. you don't have to change anything to run them. Why do you think you need them ? Your sig line says you are going to run 33's .Stock axles will hold up fine for a long time .

Good answer. I'm waiting to order my ARBs and Longs at the same time so I can do it all at once. Something to think about if you're not locked already. Good luck!

Hehe theres always that need for something better...

So whats the strength 27 vs 30 spline axles? Do I need to spend that extra $150 on the 30's to run 36's?

you can always buy just the 27 spline cromo birfs.. ($205 a piece)

then if you ever break an inner axle, you can upgrade the 27's to 30 spline inners, (you need to buy a new 30 spline inner Star from Longfield)

Id say if your going to buy the set, just pony up the extra $150 and go with 30's..

Testing results off pirate
.......................................... ft lbs ** degree** inner axle used **failure
longfield 27 spline 4340 birf....7000...........80.......300m........inner axle broke
longfield 30 spline birf............8900.......120.........4340....... . inner axle broke
