The good is they are bullet proof just like the engine, the bad is they suck a lot of power from your already underpowered Runner.......

A few other things
They're very heavy. I don't think there are any crawler gears for some of them, depends on the setup you have. Some have no seperate transfer case, it's all one piece. When they break, they are VERY VERY expensive to get fixed. Most swap to manuals. __________________ KB1OSF '87 Toyota xcab SR5 - SAS'd, stuff '98 Lexus ES300 '04 Toyota Highlander |

A good excuse to install 5:71's as AT's are gentler than manuel's on the DT.
Consider it for sand, mud duty. Should'nt be hard to swap it to 5sp I would just consider what I want the truck to do. Make a list "Blue print" the truck. I have an 1/85 IFS RET 4r they only came with AT's and I am keeping it that way I want a 2-3" lift possably retaining the IFS because Toyota (only) IFS is the best. I'm wanting to build it with a Defender 90 in mind. It's all in what YOU want the truck to do. Last edited by tntoyota; 02-27-07 at 03:22 PM. |
