IH8 MUD Noobie with a 86 Runner with a 22RE with 272,000 miles. 5.29's f&r, Detroit TT (f) and Lock Right (r), 33x12.5x15 MT Baja Claws on 15x8 AR Outlaw II's, MC front tube bumper w/ stinger, Smitty rear tube, nerf bars, and XRC8 winch. I have a 3" BL on it for now, but just got a 4"IFS lift and 3" Downey springs with a 2" TG shackle. Then the BL rear tube and nerf go. I am getting a MC rear bump, and some sliders. I also need some Syn winch line. Good to be here.

Here's my '92 I bought about a year ago for 1500. The PO had been told that the headgasket was blown, but in hindsight I don't think this was true. I did run "steel seal" through it and replaced the badly leaking waterpump, with new belts, hoses, tune up plus Rancho 5000 shocks. I also replaced the exhaust manifold as it was cracked. The PO had just put in a new clutch, plus it had recent brakes. Searching the receipts, I found it had a new headgasket, radiator, timing chain, etc. about 35K miles ago, by the original owner. It has about 178K on it, I'm guessing because the odometer went out a few months ago. It has almost zero rust and runs great. I've really appreciated having a pickup for my day job and construction/ handy man projects.

Man with just a minor lift and some 33's that thing would look REALLY good.

That is the twin to the first new truck I had ever purchased. 1992 I was on the line for Thomason Toyota, I think I paid the weekend ad price of $11,995.00 Had side vent windows, 4cyl, 5 speed, SRW, cass and a/c. Man I loved that truck!

I dubbed it `Blue Diamond`
My 1993 3.0 ltr Hilux Surf SSR-G that I`ve owned for 3 whole days.
All stock except a pan heater, remote starter and turbo timer. The remote starter and turbo timer are not working in synchronisity so far but I`m hoping that will be remedied shortly. Points to anyone who can identify where I posed the truck. I bought it site unseen and my test drive lasted 1500 kms which was an awesome way to get used to the RHD.
I`m looking forward to getting a lift eventually and some great winter tires.
Cheers

Here is the BONDO-TA

Since this is a trail rig, did not spend tons of time trying to fix every dent or weld in all new metal where the rusted out bed creases were. Instead, used Bondo and then painted the whole thing with Rustoleum and Tractor Paint!

When I bought it, it had the 5.29 gears, spool in the rear, the body lift and bobbed bed. Since then, added the 8274 Warn on the front, 4.7 Trail Gears in the tcase, Hi-Steer, ram assist, and a new front dshaft.

Future plans are Lock Right in the front and Chromo axles, and mounting 36" IROKs on a set of double beadlocks I have in the garage.

This is my 85 4Runner I picked up in Portland, OR from a dealership for $2,000. The first day they put it on the lot and it was mine by noon. It has the stock 22RE and the truck currently has 182,000 miles on it (152,000 when I bought it 5 years ago). The truck currently has a 2" Rancho suspension on it which I hate, but next week I'm putting a 2.5" OME suspension on it hoping for a better ride. Other than the 32" BFG MT's and the suspension upgrade, I don't really have many plans for it. Stored winters here in Michigan. Lot's of fun in the summer though...

Thanks - loved the look of the old Ivan Stewart Baja yotas but not so much for the yellow/orange! Decided to use the modern TRD race colors with the old style paint scheme! Ended the stripes a bit early though so I can take the doors off without "messing" up the look!

Pretty much replaced anything made of rubber on the entire truck, as well as: new radiator, new clutch hydraulics, new trans, rebuilt front driveshaft, new brakes, new rear wheel seals, vacuum lines hooked up the correct way and vacuum leaks fixed, new motor mounts, and then all the other normal basic tune up and fluid replacements all around.

I have done minimal mods:
- 33" BFGs on 2.75" BS rims
- Aussie locker in the rear
- Rock sliders
- Trimmed front fenders, with firewall BFH treatment
- Bobbed the bed 16"

Next is power steering, as I have all the pump and box stuff waiting. But the front springs are completely shot. I plan to make a hybrid front/rear pack and do the steering at the same time. Then fix the super greasy and leaky knuckles and get a doubler and lower xfer gears.
I believe I can get fiberglass fender flares for the 79-83 Toyota truck if you are looking for them. Let me know if you are interested.

Also: that is a wicked sweet Surf posted. I swear, someday I WILL find myself a fender with that mirror on it for mine (probably the same time I find a 4 door body).

Don't know how I missed these two, but those are some nice looking diesel rigs!

I have the exact same little mirror for the fender. PM me with your email if your interested and I'll send you pics.

This rust free truck still has its original tan paint with factory labels. It has the usual dings and minor dents, but no rust. It is clean and tight.

Photos can be seen here: http://picasaweb.google.com/DirtyToySchool/Vintage1981ToyotaPickUp#

The engine is a 22R. It has a new Weber carburetor with electric choke. A new yellowtop Optima battery has been added too.

The transmission has been upgraded to a Marlin Crawler 5 speed L52HD model. The clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, clutch master cylinder & slave cylinder were all replaced at the same time.

The transfer case has 4:1 gear ratio gears.

Both axles have been rebuilt with 4:88 gear ratios and ARB air lockers. The front axle also received 30 spline Longfield alloy axle shafts, alloy hub gears, ARP knuckle studs and hub studs. Various axle gussets and diff armor have been added too.

There is a new 2” suspension lift from NW Offroad with greasable frame eyes and shackles. Cross-over steering was added along with an IFS steering box and PSC power steering. Long travel shock hoops, Bilstein shocks, and U-bolt flip kits were added on both axles.

The 5 factory wheels were sandblasted and painted a Terra Cotta color. There are 5 new BFG KM Mud Terrain tires with siping (33”x10.5”x15”).

The front winch bumper has integrated turn signals and a Superwinch X9 winch. The custom rear step bumper has integrated recovery points.

Rock sliders to protect the rocker panels, and a dual roll bar and bed rack storage system. There is a lockable water-proof aluminum storage box in the bed that has been powdercoated.

The interior of this truck received a lot of attention. It has new ACC vinyl flooring, Corbeau “Moab” reclining seats, a Tuffy security console with locking compartments, a Cobra 25 CB (tuned and peaked), a Coverlay vinyl dash pad cover, new door and kick panels, and new seat belts. The rear window has been replaced with new factory glass from the dealer.

Its also got a new 60” Hi Lift Extreme jack and a new fully charged CO2 Powertank system.
