'79 Special Edition
Got a call from a guy who has a 79 'Special Edition' Hilux 4X4 that he wants to get rid of. Says he researched it (someehow) and it was the 78th unit of this p/u type imported for that model year. I took a brief look at it yesterday. Doesn't run but does turn over, frame's shot, the bed not much better. Front clip not bad (parts availability?). It does have full instrumentation and what looked like factory a/c controls??? I'm a 40 guy and have no idea what I'm looking here.
Any interest? Mike in PA |

http://www.toyotafiberglass.com makes a replacement bed and fenders and such .. all I can say is these older units .. in good shape .... are getting harder and harder to find .. go from there . |

dosent sound like anything special.
with a shot frame and not running, sounds like a turd you'll polish for a long time before its worth while. SR5's have a/c. i had a 79 with ac. nothing special. and since it uses R-12, its really expensive to charge, versus R-134a. |

I have access to a 79 also. #123 of 1086 I believe. I am having the same dilemna. Ca. smog laws are tough to adhere to. This one has a 22R, has electrical problems, and needs other little nickle n dime stuff. Needs treads too. The price is right, but is the effort and monetary investment worth tje hassle? Probably not.
Good Luck. __________________ Free Thinkers Are Dangerous |

Alright-tee then Mrs TNTOYOTA. Now that you've successfully padded your number of posts (because it's so obvious that this is what you're doing), do you have anything intelligent to offer???
I didn't think so..... Mike in PA PS I'll sell you my 'Special Edition', cheap. Tell me which trailer park to send the title
