83 frame with an 86 xtra cab

Is it doable? Everything I have read is about people modifying the 83 cab to make it xtra cab. I have a running and driving 83 and a mostly complete 86 xtra cab. And would like to put the 86 cab on the 83 frame.
Are the body mounts the same? Will things like the shifters line up?

Thanks for the help

........... Let us know Hehehehe Any thing is possible.... I doubt the cab mounts are the same, otherwise we'd have heard of more cab swaps.

The core suport mounts and the front cab mounts will be good but you will have to make new rear cab mounts to make them line up.

X-cab on reg-cab frame swaps have been done over and over. The only thing new about your instance is that it's an 83 vs. the 84+ frames. Big deal. Front two mounts should line up. Rear cab mounts need to be moved back ~9". Front box mounts removed and box bobbed. Easy...

Numerous write-ups. Check out Toy2's on Pirate4x4 and Andy Zook's on 4x4 wire.
