Well, I recently acquired a 1994 Four Runner in great shape with 20K on a new, Toyota installed long block V6.....some mods have already begun....
However, how much lift will I get if I throw a set of stock FJ80 coils on the rear? -H-

I got mine from a '97 Cruiser with tow package and I got 4.75 on one side and 4.5 on the other side. I put the longer one on the pass. side because the gas tank is there. YOu really can't tell the height difference between the two sides. I know that there have been many various spring rates that people have been finding. I would suggest getting them off of one with the tow package. I have heard that they may be too soft if not one with the tow package. Here are some before and after pics just to show you:
Before: ![]() After coils and bj spacers: ![]() Now w/ running boards removed and 33x12.5's

All US FZJ80's have the tow package. All 80's have slightly taller springs on the gas tank side (I think). As far as I know there is NO difference in spring rate for stock 80 coils. When I was really looking into this on Yotatech, the consensus was 4" of lift. I've got a spare set I'll sell, PM me if you're interested.

It's the same spring tow package or not. But if you got LX450 coils they'd be a little softer, probably slightly less lift too. But that's based on what I know about 80's, not runners so fwiw...

I know from my research on it, that they were getting a wide variety of springs. They would actually have different number of coils, different lengths etc.... I saw a pic somewhere of 80 coils and they were all over the place height wise and different color codes on them as well. I know that they have a tall side and a short side, but from what I saw there was more of a variety than just tall side short side.

Hmm....
Don't know if I really need 4+ inches of lift....maybe I'll go with some OME Heavy springs in the rear and Heavy shocks all around..... -H- __________________ 2003 BMW R1150GS Adventure 1983 FJ45 Troopy KE7TYL ...and then there is always Mexico.... |

Just find a set off a lx450. The main difference is that they are shorter than the US LC coils. These coils are acutally used on land cruisers without the jump seat option. So on a 450, which all had jump sets, the trucks set level instead of setting with a rake like the LC's had. If you get a pair and the coil lengths don't match just chop a wrap off. I think it's about 1/2 to a whole wrap to make them match--not a big deal.
