leaf springs 1980 Toy PU
I need to replace the springs/shocks/bushings on my old 1980 PU. Don't want to spend major $$ either
I just do mostly moderate offroading. I'm guessing the springs on it now are already some sort of lift as I have 33x12.50 on it with no probs as far as clearance goes. But the ride beats the crap out of me, and there is practicaly no flex right now.I can do some fabrication like relocating the spring mounts for longer springs, if needed. But, really just looking for a 'little' better ride, and better flex out of the suspension. I'm going to keep the 33x12.50 tires. Thanks. |

Well, I had assumed that some people on this forum might have some opinions on various springs that they've installed on thier own trucks. There are a number of manufacurers out there, and it'd be nice to get some people's like and dislikes before commiting the money for any one particular brand

oh.
a common thing to do is use 63" chevy 1/2 ton 3 leaf rear springs. cut off the front mount and relocate a new one 13" forward. and also re-use the toy rear springs on the front axle. this relocates your axle forward for better approach angle. drive shaft work will have to be done to accomadate. |

I have a 3.5" Explorer Pro Comp lift on my '85 mini. I don't like how rough it rides, but the lift is definately there and I could stuff 35s in with re-gearing. I plan on changing to the Chev long leaf rears and probably Jeep Waggy's on the front when I get time.
