I was wondering if any one knew if there was any way i could add like 20 to 30 whp ? And if so what companies make parts ?

Cheap things you can do:

Header and 2.25" exhaust.
Cam, something like the DOA C270 or TRD#1. I run both, like the DOA.
Bored throttle body. Some question as to how much this will give.
Plenum conversion (if older than 1988)

Expensive things you can do:

Port head
Balance rotating assembly

Pappy, I have searched everywhere for a more detailed write-up on the late model plenum conversion that you describe in these two links. One of your links has some good comparison photos but I must admit that I would be a bit intimidated to try this without a better explanation. I also have a DOA Racing engine and could speak to Tim about this conversion but a quick check of his website made me question as to whether or not I wanted to spend $850 to do this conversion. If I could aquire the parts cheaper then I might try it.

Anyone else try this or know where a very detailed write-up can be found? It would make great FAQ fodder!

Someday I'll go though those old pages and clean them up. I haven't looked at them in years. It is very simple, though I guess I make a lot of assumptions on ones mechanical experience. I guess I could make it a bit more cookbook. Just off the top of my head.

• Replace your plenum and throttle body with newer plenum and throttle body. It involves removing the hoses/lines, +\- six bolts/nuts, and the two bolts to the EGR.
• Remove TPS from both throttle bodies and replace pawl in new throttle body with the pawl from old throttle body. Install the the old TPS on the new throttle body and adjust per FSM. (note this might not be necessary if the connector is the same, but I did so the TPS matches the year of the truck for future replacement).
• I think you can use the new cold start injector, but if the connector is different just swap in the old one. Relieve pressure in the fuel line first (run engine with EFI fuse pulled).
• Disconnect air flow VALVE (not meter) under throttle body. Let connector hang. You won't need it.
• Hook up coolant lines as necessary. Best to use lines from donor assembly. Might as well replace while there.
• I think I used the matching throttle cable too, but I don't remember if it was necessary.

Here in ABQ the throttle body, intake, and cable runs about $60 at the local U-Pull. The job should take less than an hour.

Like I said, I make assumptions. Gaskets should also be replaced at the plenum and the EGR.
