95 3.0 radiator replacement?

My buddy's 4Runner needs a new radiator and I told him not to pay the dealership $500 for their reman'd one.

Anybody have any wisdom on where to pick up a replacement? I've looked at a few of the online vendors, but haven't ever done business with any of them.

Thanks,
Eric

I haven't had a chance yet. I'm assuming that he he's working from the same parts list as the dealer here which quoted my buddy $300 for a remanufactured rad. Even if Dan can get it for $200 + shipping (guess), there are several online places that have rebuilt ones for ~$150 with free shipping. I just don't know if there's a preferred vendor or any places to stay away from.

If I get a chance, I'll call Dan tomorrow, but I think for something like this where there are so many aftermarket options, I don't see a reason to pay extra for OEM, unless I'm missing something??

Thanks,
Eric

If you wanted to upgrade, maybe you'd get more opinions..... 150 sounds about fight for a V6 rad. replacement. Just got one for my dad's 84 4 banger for about 125.

A few months ago I got a CSF radiator from either Radiator.com or radiatorbarn.com. I believe it ended up costing around $150. I'd call around to radiator shops and just ask them, they might be able to get you a better deal than that.
If you/he is one bit mechanically inclined, replacing it will be a breeze. Took me about 2 hours tops, and most of that was searching through my tools.
From what I found, CSF is about as good as you can find, no problems with mine.

On a 3.0 I would highly recomend you get a 3 core, this was not previously discussed so I'm making sure. My 94 4R 4x4 came factory with a 2 core, and a 2 core will be cheaper than a 3 core. This V6 doesen't take much to fry, FYI. Must be A.T rad for the A.T cooling lines then get aux. cooler and install WITH factory, don't cut corners. This will save you a tranns................ I'm just making sure.

Hi,

I got my radiator for my 90 Toyota 4x4 from Radiator Barn. I paid 169 and change which included shipping. I lucked out, and my dad paid the mechanic that did my clutch master and clutch slave cylinder for 300.00, charged me only 65.00 to install the radiator, hoses, and refill the radiator with coolant.

Damn, I would to if I charged $300 for that!

Edit* for below

Go figure my 91 3.0 4x 4:10 came factory with a 3 core.

I just bought a 3 core from AAA Radiator for 154.00. I have never seen a V6 2 core radiator, my '95 has a 3 core from the factory. All the places I called had the radiators with the tranny cooler lines, even for the 5 speeds. 1 part number cuts the inventory down.
