Just got back from a 2200mi. road trip a couple weeks ago. Went from Ohio to YankeeToys fall gathering up in New Hamshter, then over to the coast of Maine for a few days, down to Monticello, NY to crew a ProRally the next weekend, then all the way across Pennsylvania from the NE corner to the SW corner.
On the outbound leg(OH-NH-ME) we went 1017mi(true) and burned 59.33gals of cheapsh1t unleaded.
Avg fuel economy was 17.14MPG.
Then there was the miles from Maine to the Rally and use of the truck by the rally team. We lost track of miles and fuel consumption during that part.
On the return leg (NY-PA-OH) we went 595miles and burned 39.2gals for an avg. of 15.18MPG.
Outbound was across northern OH, PA and NY on I-90 at 64MPH, w/ a stock front bumper and no roof rack.
Return leg was w/ an ARB front bullbar & a roof rack loaded w/ 33" tires (thanks Annie!), fighting a headwind through the mountains of PA. Sometimes going a little faster than 64MPH 'cause we were ready to be home by then. 11 days in a stock FJ60 front seat makes a person want to get home.
Next FJ60 will get better fuel economy due to a better cylinder head (more port work) and a Fairey OD and a chrome header.
