BJ70 hot lead for tape player
I picked up a free, good condition radio/cassette player to replace the stock radio in my BJ70. The radio was working, but the controls were broken or falling apart. As I understand it, the key switched hot lead from the original radio goes to the "ACC" wire on my tape deck, but I also need a hot lead for the "BATT" wire on the tape deck to insure constant power for the memory chip. My problem is that somehow I've messed up the cigarette lighter lead (when orginally tested it was hot, but is no longer- perhaps because of my fumblings-fuse OK). My quandry is: Should I run a fused wire straight from the battery, find another hot lead, or will someone give me a tip on what happened to my cig lighter?

Due to the overwhelming response in favor of a new line from the battery, that's what i will do.
Cig lighters never work on my cars anyway, and I have no idea where another hot lead could be found. If the beast catches on fire, I'll be sure to submit photos.
