Spring Gap?

I was wondering what sort of gap other 70s have between the top of the diff and the bump stop? i have about 60mm (21/4 inches) approx. Is this normal or have my springs sagged? I am thinking of upgrading suspension and shocks. What would be the best chioce for a genuine off road truck that only sees the blacktop on its way to and from the mud.
