You might try a few of the guys that Crusher's posted up. Radd and G&S have a bunch of used parts and may have what you need off of one of the various parts trucks they have. I want to get a new hood as mine is sprung pretty bad, but I'm sure the shilling will be a KILLER!!!

If anything, if it's just a two wire light, upgrade to a newer LED light with roughly the same dimensions. I'm missing some of the lights for the inside of my troopie, I'm either going to retro an 80/100 series dome light module or do high-speed, wiz-bang LED action

I have the original in there ,but I also have a magnetic fluro light above the rear window. It throws out an excellent light across the dash or for reading maps etc.
It stayed up there through some pretty rough tracks it was also cheap.

My objective is two fold.....1) Have enough illumination so I can see the water dripping on my right foot from the gas pedal during rain showers.

2) Find a suitable light ( either original or LED ) to fill up that gaping hole in the ceiling.

A funny although totally unrelated story........The gentleman who bought my 1988 BJ71 ( who had previously owned a Canadian BJ70) had taken the Cruiser to a local garage because it would not shutdown. After considerable trouble-shooting the garage finally ran out of options and called me to see if I had any input. Here is the good part....the current owner had noticed the turbo timer tucked under the steering column and after seeing the on-off switch ( which was selected - off ) thought it would be a good idea to turn it - on to see what it did. Guess what .....it worked.

Thanks for the information. I am trying to adapt the original backing plate and lens cover to a LED setup. Hopefully I can maintain the
"factory" look while having an interior light that is actually bright.

Time will tell if I am successful.

( I will start off with a brief history............)
When I bought the HJ75, the turn signal switch was bad and I borrowed one from a LHD BJ70 which worked fine even though the plastic steering wheel cover would no fit. I recently received a correct unit from Oz and now that it is installed the rear fuel tank gauge "pulses" when the brakes are applied or the turn signal is used. ( all other features associated with the turn signal switch works properly) Now here is the weird part....When the turn signal switch is unplugged ( taken completely out of the loop ) the pulsing rear fuel gauge issue still exist when the brake pedal is depressed.

......Any thoughts.............

Brakes totally rebuilt including new brake master cylinder and no evidence of leaks. What is your line of thinking?

GOT IT......broken ground wire between the cab and rear bed. Actually had nothing to do with the turn signal switch.

My shiny new bumper

( thanks Matt ). Can't wait to go to my local Walmart tomorrow so I can back into a "trail rated" Jeep in the parking lot.

The metal frame that holds the trailer hitch receiver had to be lowered approximately 2 inches to accommodate the rear bumper. Small spacers ( photo) had to be installed to re-anchor the brace. Still have a little painting to do but basically the project is now complete.

I was just about to ask that question,my shiny new towbar and hitch is almost identical to yours and sits hard up against the frame.
Whats the towbar rated at,mine is 3500kg

There have actually been several items that were higher on the "pecking order." .....Blown exhaust manifold gaskets, alternator issues and a small water leak in the cab.

Does the towbar / hitch appear to be factory? I assumed it was "aftermarket or homemade" because it interfered with the bumper.
I am not sure of the towing capacity...each of the forward "anchors" contains a thumb size nut and bolt so it is very secure. I don't pull anything larger than a small lawn mower trailer anyway.

You can tell from the 2 "empty bolt holes" just above the center step , where the hitch was originally attached. We had to settle with the remaining two bolts and the forward anchors. You could do "pull ups" on either corner and there was no movement so I think we are good.

I dont think many owners here have a bumper like yours and most people ditch the factory tub in favour of the tray which would render the bumper useless for climbing onto the back
Toyota have a towbar as an option ,but Im not sure it was available in your utes vintage.
Mine is a Parkside Towbars job.

This is a factory towbar for the current 7* series,(I think its the same as Zoltans)it doesnt have the centre plate that bolts to the frame,yet it still has the same load rating
