so we had the LJ71 stripped to the chassis and wheels, no engine tranny etc, no body or fenders in just under 7 hours. bully for us.
the front fenders on a LJ71 is just as much a pain in the arse as the rest of the 70 series even though they have only 2 peices. the tub, which i thought would be a piece of cake turned into a night mare, it was heavy, unstable and everything was hidden here and there. it is amazing where Toyota hides everything.
the fuel tank was stuck to the body by the undercoating and needed prying off which i never had to worry about before. the tranny mount has this big ass bolt that goes through the center and the bolt has a shoulder on it that catches the cross member which can cause a bit of frustration.
the tranny and engien eigh just about the same so when you hook up to the rear engine lift mount the whole unit comes out almost level.
being able to see the suspension from the top makes for an easy way to figure ways to lift the truck. longer tack arms, drop the mounts while you are doing it and taller springs and you could easily make a wicked off road truck that would still be very streetable...
well enough rambling,
cheers guys...
