Replacement rear quart. panels - bj70

Where is a good place to get rear q. panels for bj70. I am looking into purchasing one that has typical Canada rusted wheel wells? Do you know what they might cost?

I think 4 wheel auto out of Edmonton has some, but they cost a bit.

Unobtainum as far as I know. The dealer might have them but they'll cost more than a rusty BJ70. There were some parts coming from Germany but I hear that they fit very badly.

The good news is that there is nothing to complicated about the lines of a 70. A decent fabricator can rebuild them from scratch.

Deny is right

Quarter panels

Are these the German ones that don't fit? Anybody have experience?

The price is ok if they are good.

I'm thinking about trimming mine like the 60 series guys do. Simple and I think it would still look good trimmed up right under the rear tail light.

We've got 2 HZJ73 quarters up here in B.C. They were cut out of a complete tub and include the inner wheel wells. They are off a Soft top MWB 73 so they are 12" longer between the wheel arch and the beginning of the rocker panel. They also have the OEM fender flares attached. For the puroposes of a repair you can just cut what you need out of em and weld into a 70.

I also tried the Wolf 60 series panels, never will buy those again.

Ccot panels rock.

Hey Crusher
Just out of curiosity are those tubs from LJ70's? Ever see any rag top tubs or hard tops with sunroofs?

It seems weird at first to think of rusty vehicles in Australia. Is it the sea air where you are in Townsville? Do they rust as badly in the interior?

Nah it isn't that bad here. Only when previous owners leave the car exposed for 4 years in Tully (rain forest area) without being touched. The interior is in schmick condition. The only rust I have is oround the gutters and windows - the usual

If you want a sunroof I'd suggest a webasto (same company as the diesel heaters). I friend of mine Just bought a new Duramax loaded except for the sunroof. Instead of the dealer ordering a new truck they sent it out to get it done and in my opinion looks better then the GM one. you would never know it's not a factory item. Very clean install. I thought about haveing one installed in my 70 although there are more pertanant mods to be done for me.
