How did you get the 108:1. Did I miss something?

I am pretty sure it is:

1.08 : 1 in High Range
3.05 : 1 in Low Range

Hope this helps,

-Alberto

Unless my math is horrible, it doesn't help. I can only see about 75:1 unless you have a non Toyota Transmission or portals

What is expressed as 1.08:1 in High and 3.05:1 in Low is not the final reduction ratio, but it is the ratio of the transfer case gears that were replaced with Marks gears.

It is Option 4 on the link listed below:

Landcruiser Gears

Hi gotoy

I have had the Marks Gears in my BJ 74 for 4 years now.

Total mileage since Marks gears were installed is 116,000 kms.

(My driving habit) My front hubs are always in the LOCK position
I have a couple of witnesses that can tell you that the transfer case has been in 4wd for 75,000 and 60,000kms for Low Range.
As soon as I am off the pavement 4wd is engaged .For trail use it is ALWAYS IN LOW RANGE or any dirt driving under 25kms per hour.

(NOISE) or very light whine

My BJ 74 is my EXPO/ Off road vehicle. The only time it goes on the pavement is to head to the trail . So at speeds from 65km/h up there is a constant whine, it is not harsh but it is there. I gladly put up with it for its ability to drive slow when needed.

The tranfer case internals are quite abit stronger than the OEM gears.
My 74 is in good shape meaning on a good dirt road @ 90km I can engage and disengage 4WD directly and smoothly providing that the rear wheels are not spinning, sometimes I can engage and disengage @ speed several hundred times a day if I am travelling hundreds of KMs on Gravel/ Hard packed dirt.

In a note; the ability to drive slower outweighs the mild whine tenfold. I usually take about 2-3 months off in the summer to Expo hundreds of Kms away from ciivilization while having to pick up supplies and fuel every 2 weeks( I have a Waeco CF 110 ) and carry up to 60 litres of diesel in gerry cans. Driving slow in low range driving around 10-12 hours aday @ 1200-1600rpms the 13B-T can go along way.

I would like to go a little lowe A couple of the sprung over guys like Lowenbrau and Behemoth 60 have Marlin Cases with 4.7 to 1 low. I hope this helps (it took me along time to type) LOL PS I always take the torque off the case every time I stop on the trail by taking it out of 4wd or putting the case in N

Anytime AlbertoSD . The Marks gears were used and in the transfer case when I got them. They are holding up quite well.

The 60's old worn out body is gone, but the drivetrain lives... Its being swapped into a slick little 4 door hilux , but wont be ready for the shiver, though maybe for the beginning of summer.
