New stereo, now electrical problems!

G'day all,

Fitted a new stereo to my Aus spec 12V BJ74 on the weekend, pulled out the factory toyota tape deck and radio.

With it removed and the new stereo in, now my clock doesnt work, I found acc power for it, but it has no permanent power and looses the time everytime the ignition is turned off. Also the interior light wont work unless the ignition is in teh acc position.

Everything worked fine with the factroy head unit installed. Any ideas?

How did you wire the new stereo in? I used one of those adapter looms in the 75 after removing the toyota radio cassette and all is well ,including the clock

No adaptor looms, used a test light to find what I wanted and went from there. Did yours have permanent power to the radio from factory?

Mine didnt so I had to find another source. Maybe there is a fuse gone somewhere.

No sure about the permanent power to the old one,I cant remember if it had a clock but ti did have preset channels,so it must have.
Both the stereos in my 73 and 75 have permanent power.

Try the adapter looms ,they are only $20-$25 or so from Strathfields
