The Silver Bullet - new bar work and stereo
Thought I'd start a build thread for the silver Bullet as its stock at the moment.
Getting it ready for a road worthy tommorow. So this weekend I fitted all new old man emu bushes, and front anti inversion shackles and new rear shocks. Was going to fit greasable pins but the old man emu ones dont fit! The offset 12mm head bolt doesnt line up and the larger diameter alignment part is 46mm instead of the required 51mm bit pissed off.
Also trialed my 35'' Pedes today, unfortunately they hit the exhaust.
Plans are move diff forward about 40mm for clearance. I have some sagged 4'' springs for the front which will be about 2'' with the winch and bar work. And I will fit the rear springs from the Red barron to this which will be about 2'' lift with stock shackles. I will complement this with a 1'' body lift I think for tyre clearance at the front. Sound like a good idea?
Sitting on its own weight

Sorry mate forgot to measure the car I will when I get a chance if you still need it?
Swapping a few things between cars. And my 3-4'' lift springs behind my 2'' lift springs. I'm hoping the 3-4'' springs are abit sagged and leaves the front just lower than the rear.

Got the car registered on Friday morning, Fri arvo it went into the garage. Now it is twin locked, widened front diff, 60 rear diff, lifted suspension, boost controller, better drivers seat and 33'' muddies.
Unfortunately the 33'' rubber rubs hard on the front guards when flexed up and I dont know if a 1'' bodylift will be enough with my 35'' tyres. I dont really want to cut into the front guards as it looks so damn good!
I am really pleased with the front shackle angle and approach angle, with the 35''s on the approach angle should be really good. The diff is about 30mm forward at ride height.
Front shocks are maxed out, I need longer ones to take full advantage of the springs.
Rear is nearly at max droop but has more compression left. Setup is working well so far.
Few pics.

Awesome stuff mate! You have done it all before so you know exactly what works and what doesnt. No messing round! Looks like it will be a great hardcore tourer with the 35s
Not putting the arb bar and winch on the new one?

Jezzz dont put to much pressure on a bloke!! Only so many hours in a day to swap parts over. Bullbar and winch is last major component to be swapped over. Probably this weekend, four day weekend!

Looks great Hulsty. Hows the power of the 13BT compare to the old 3F?

Its great, the 3F accelerates better due to the larger rev range. The 13BT holds hills better and has better in gear acceleration. At current i'm running about 8.5-9psi boost and the same diffs/tyres as were in the FJ73. On the way to work up the steep hills in 4th gear the BJ74 drops to 80km/h from 90, the FJ73 dropped to 70.
On lowish speed dirt stuff the BJ74 definitely feels like it has more poke.
Not sure how it will go once in low range with the 35''s on, for some reason the BJ74 doesnt like pulling from low rpm, is rough below about 1100rpm. The FJ73 would go down to about 600rpm and pull away on and offroad where as below 1100rpm in the BJ74 gives driveline vibration and general rough running when taking say a corner in 3rd gear and dropping to 1000rpm.
Have done ~260km to quarter of a tank though!!!

There is no doubt the 3F is silky smooth at low rpm,but the cost of runing diesel more than makes up for it

Hello,
Looking good. One mean rig you got...
How much did you move the front axle? 30 mm like in the Red Barron?

This one is about 30mm forward, 25mm on the spring perch and a little from the springs, as they are for a 4'' lift which make them longer than stock. Unfortunately the tyres rub BADLY on the front
