Ever tried it? It's harder than it looks. By the time the beam begins to move you are 18" ahead of the balance point. Guys with autos do well because they can let the rig roll back just as the beam begins to move.
I've done it a few times with similar results to baroudeur73

Hi,the springs in the front are from the 80 series 5" OME, in the rear we placed the leaf springs above the axle. about the shocks, once the cruiser is lifted up,mesure the space between base and find a shock that fits.. grettings

Thanks ferportu, Much appreciated. Why don't you post your new 79 here with all the details and mods you did on it?

hi! you're welcome...i wish i could post something about my new 79 but my english is not very good so i'll soon try to post something very general about the mods and if you have any questions you can ask me about it, no problem. i can't get enough of this forum but it's difficult for me to interact with others cuz of my limited english...

Seriously? You communicate better than a lot of people who have English as their first and only language. I, for one, would love to see what you've done to your 79.

Your english is really not that bad.
See, everybody wants to see your new 79 with all the mods.
I would like to find out exactly how you lifted it so high, I know what springs and shocks you used, but did you have to put steering extensions, or did you have to modify the drive shafts to accomodate the lift?
I need more information on how you installed the higher lift, and what needed to be changed on the 79 when it was lifted so high.
There are very few people who have lifted the 79 high, because of the fact that it has coils in the front and leaves in the back.
So all your help and advice is appreciated.
